It feels good to hate on another character who, due to one’s lack of understanding and vacuous arrogance, is presenting concepts that are foreign to one’s unexamined beliefs.
Monbiot is speaking of industrialized agriculture based heavily on chemical “inputs” and repeated mechanical disruption of healthy soil biology (tillage). Animal “husbandry” has been similarly co-opted by methods that are unsustainable and damaging to global natural systems.
I can already hear the plaintive question, “But how will we feed everyone?” The key question though, is why are there so **** many people?
