Well, Mother nature is invading us with total ICE and Greenlandic Temperatures Sunday. The neigborhood is gonna be Jack on the Shining with Han Solo.
Mrs has agreed we should have a generator just in case. Harbor Freight has some decent ones. The local hardware store has some at a good price still.
Looking for around 7500 watts. Any suggestions or advice?

The whole package (500-gal propane tank) cost 15,000 installed. You are a very cheap and selfish man Johnny. Your wife could have done much better, and you have most certainly proved that to her. You will most certainly be living in a Duplex and taking selfies and putting them all over "mostly men" forums. I feel sorry for your wife Johnny. We have had like 6 power outages in 25 years. The longest was 30 hours and it was freezing cold. I am not spending 15K and maintaining it. 7500 watts is plenty, for around 750$ I know how to tap into my home grid. I can take the 7500 watts with us camping.
If the grid goes out and we need a whole house generator 24/7/365 we got bigger problems.
I have been pleading for a solution for years with Mrs. She is the one that is too cheap to let me buy one. I am going to pick one up this morning. If we don't need it it will stay in the box and we'll return it.
Noted you are keen on wasting money. No wonder our government is so phooked up.

There is a lot of simple tech out there that the garchs will outlaw. The passive heat box is pretty novel. and it works.. on sunny days.
