Mrs has agreed we should have a generator just in case. Harbor Freight has some decent ones. The local hardware store has some at a good price still.
Looking for around 7500 watts. Any suggestions or advice?
Don't let Gavin know you're planning on purchasing a gas engine generator.....he's mandated solar and wind power.JohnnyYou » 23 Jan 2026, 6:22 am » wrote: ↑ Well, Mother nature is invading us with total ICE and Greenlandic Temperatures Sunday. There are also peple making DIY biogas.
Unfortunately there is no inventory at Harbor Freight for what I want..
You should have had a generator years ago. You have really **** things up. You have let your wife down BIGLY. Yes, I invested in a 24kw Generac whole house gen years ago. The whole package (500-gal propane tank) cost 15,000 installed. You are a very cheap and selfish man Johnny. Your wife could have done much better, and you have most certainly proved that to her. You will most certainly be living in a Duplex and taking selfies and putting them all over "mostly men" forums. I feel sorry for your wife Johnny. Since she has been with you, she has got the short end of the stick...that's for sure. We have had like 6 power outages in 25 years. The longest was 30 hours and it was freezing cold. We have propane back ups.The other 5 were no longer tthan two hours.MR-7 » 23 Jan 2026, 8:24 am » wrote: ↑ You should have had a generator years ago. You have really **** things up. Keeping the shed warm is running up the electric about 50$ a month. If the sun can supplement heating and reduce the bill it would help.RebelGator » 23 Jan 2026, 7:46 am » wrote: ↑ Take all your empty cans out in the blizzard this weekend and report back when your *** thaws out.
So anyone who owns a whole house gen wasted their money....
That **** is dumb as ****.
