What I want has nothing to do with it. In a post apocalyse world, a toothache will kill ya. There is not one human in a thousand that is fit to survive a total collapse. A lot of **** THINK they're fit. They'll be the very first to die - likely with followers. All those guns they thought were so important can be picked up by anyone who stumbles upon their corpses - likely never fired.

But there will be places that are not a living hell. Those are the places that people least want to be, currently: ozarkia and appalachia, central tennessee: places that are still majority white and culturally independent. And by this, I mean there is a culture of butchering, smoking, canning, fishing, hunting, gardening, raising livestock. There will be scattered outposts where these skills are still known along the coasts, as well. There isn't going to be any "mad max" **** - not for any appreciable amount of time. The people who are geared for that will be WAY too busy dying to get much killing done. 

In a post apocalyptic world, my hens will feed my family - presumably. They free range all day and are safe in the coop at night. So they can feed themselves if the feed store shuts down. But the real question is, will the wild things remain as afraid of humanity after a collapse as they are today? Or will they come brazenly close and make quick meals of my flock? 

No one knows that WILL happen in a post apocalypse world, but you can bet that what won't happen is much of anything good. Still, life will go on. Humanity will rebuild. Communities will continue, because it is in the very DNA of humanity to organize communities. We're smaht. Not dumb, like people say.
