This news just keeps getting worse!

The federal government is hemorrhaging around $1 trillion per year due to fraud, Haywood Talcove, CEO of LexisNexis Special Services & LexisNexis Risk Solutions Government, said while testifying at a congressional hearing last week.  The eyewatering figure dwarfs the Government Accountability Office's numbers. The GAO reports that the nation's "federal government loses between $233 billion and $521 billion annually to fraud, according to GAO’s government-wide estimates based on data from fiscal years 2018 through 2022."

During the Senate hearing, Talcove said he places "the number closer to $1 trillion dollars annually, or $115 million every single hour, of which 70% is related to transnational criminals." Talcove told FOX Business that he is surprised "people don't realize how easy it is to steal from government, and taxpayers aren't more outraged."

HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. "released the Medicaid data," Talcove said. "That data has never been seen in public before. And by looking at that, I suspect that trillion dollars that I provided to Congress last week was actually a little bit light," he noted.

This was from Fox Business.

So let's take a look at growth rates of federal spending...

Have you ever voted for a POTUS who reduced the deficit he inherited?

It's hard to say for sure, it appears to happen in just about every section of the government. I only know what I read. Healthcare (Medicare/Medicaid), unemployment insurance, tax fraud and of course pandemic relief. I'm sure there are other areas where a common criminal can outwit the most powerful government in the world.

Kennedy probably opened up a can of worms by opening up the Medicaid data but it needed to be done.

In the end, Elon's number may come to pass and be exceeded.

Not a fan of LexisNexis, that CEO needs to clean up his own house. Out of the blue I ended up with 4 drivers license suspensions on my record. What a pain in the ***. The wife is digging through her 126 page report looking for errors, still waiting on mine.

Why do you believe he is credible?

The majority of fraud occurrs in procurement.

Then there's

Oliver Burckhardt came prepared for the dinner that President Trump hosted for a small group of major donors at his private Mar-a-Lago resort in South Florida on March 1.

A week earlier, one of Mr. Burckhardt’s biotech companies had donated $5 million to MAGA Inc., a pro-Trump political committee, that paved the way for him to attend the event.

At the dinner, Mr. Burckhardt got a chance to speak briefly to the president and other guests about himself and the work of his company, Extremity Care, which makes pricey medical products including paper-thin bandages made of dried bits of placenta, according to three people who spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe the private event. He also brought copies of a flier urging the Trump administration to reverse a plan to restrict Medicare reimbursement for the bandages and criticizing former President Joseph R. Biden Jr. for having “rammed through a policy that would create more suffering and death for diabetic patients on Medicare.”

The next morning, Mr. Trump posted the flier on his social media site.

It was not just symbolic.

About one month later, the Trump administration announced it would delay until next year the Biden administration plan to limit Medicare’s coverage of the bandages, known as skin substitutes, saying that it was reviewing its policies.

AI says something else:

No, the majority of U.S. Government fraud does not come from procurement. While procurement fraud is a major, persistent issue, healthcare fraud historically accounts for the largest share of False Claims Act recoveries, often 65% to 90%, whereas procurement fraud generally represents less than 10% of those recoveries. Holland & KnightHolland & Knight +1

Procurement may be a larger percentage if really dug into.
