When the democrats fail to hold their own to account, it strengthens republicans. No way you can deny this. If the dems held their officials accountable, they would not be a failing party. 

The corrolary is true. When republicans fail to hold their own to account, it strengthens democrats. And it weakens republicans - on multiple levels.
