People never think about how much protein those flies can provide. There's a meal right there - and if sally struthers is around, someone could steal one of the 40+ sandwiches she packed for lunch.

Hell, just steal her lunch and feed the tribe.

After having "flies in their eyes" for a million years...I imagine they are used to it by now.....

At some  point  these will  become economically feasible for the farmers.
Weeding and picking by a robot that works night and day, rain or shine.
The need for Illegal Aliens will dry up and blow away.
What will be  needed in any farm area will be a small crew of Service Techs.

That is kind of a "no duh," but TODAY, we need pickers and don't have them.

And we never, ever needed a single illegal alien. We were stuck with them because our sleazy federal government wants it that way - refuses to issue the needed visas.

If there never were any   Illegal Aliens at all....EVER ...farmers would have already  figured out a work around.

Yep, being a picker would be considered  a valid and livable career path for able bodied US Citizens to take.

We have all sorts of millionaire farmers in the USA...getting rich off of the backs of dirt cheap illegal labor.

Bro, if those rich farmers hadda pay murkins, you'd be paying a **** of a lot more at the grocery store.

I've travelled to a lot of countries and bought groceries, and I can tell you that proportionately, they get **** compared to us. In Brazil, food costs about half of what we pay here. But the people only earn about a third - so they're paying more of their income for food. Ya know why? No migrants being paid crap wages.  Believe me, meskin labor makes murkins' lives a **** of a lot easier. Your food would be double, I **** you not - maybe triple. Murkins only pay about 10% of their wages in food. Brazilians are double that - and for the bottom tier people, it's more like a quarter of their income, just for food. 

Meskin agricultural labor is good for americans and good for meskins. We just need to get em visaed up.

As it is...I get a lot of stuff straight from Mexico.
If prices were to get too high I suppose some folks might be motivated to grow their own...?    
Farmers could be asked to forecast their need for legal immigrants and this would give our government some idea about how many work permits to hand out.
I would not be surprised to hear that this isn't already being done.

People that can't afford their groceries don't have their **** together enough to grow their own food. MOSTLY. There are exceptions in ozarkia and appalachia.

The insufficiency of visas is not a glitch. It's a feature. 

Any time in life - in business, government, or your own life - problems are allowed to persist, someone is getting something out of that problem.

Human beings are problem solving machines. It's all we do, all day long. If we leave a problem to fester, it's because that problem has a payoff.
