Their land is rich in uranium. However, we helped them mine it. This was back in the good old days, in 1967,  when Iran was a flourishing country. They had a government that pushed democracy. They had some of the best universities in the world. We were allies then, because we needed them during the cold war. So, we helped them mine their land for the uranium for nuclear power. Not for nuclear missiles. They needed energy. Nuclear power was just getting big then, so we helped build their whole infrastructure and we trained their scientists. It wasn't meant for weaponry, it was only meant for energy.

Then the regime that is in now took over. They decided to use tyranny as their form of government. They forced the scientists to build a nuclear program meant to destroy Israel and America with the uranium that we extracted for them.

The most they could build would be 10 nuke missiles that could only travel 1200 miles.  The closest US shore to Iran is Alaska...which is 4800 miles away. 

But Israel is 800-1000 miles away. So do the math. Are we in this war to defend Israel or us?

So the thinking is: You'd rather wait for them to have the bomb?
Also, weren't we all afraid of a dirty bomb just a few years ago?
Also2, why isn't it prudent to prevent as many countries from becoming nuclear as possible?
