A former lawyer for President Trump’s campaign, Joseph diGenova, is said to be planning to split time between Miami and Fort Pierce, where a grand jury overseen by a Trump-favored judge sits.
As a sprawling inquiry expands into whether former federal officials committed crimes in investigating President Trump, two unusual factors could ease the way toward securing the indictments he craves.
A former lawyer for Mr. Trump’s campaign, Joseph diGenova, has been selected to lead the inquiry after a career prosecutor in Miami was removed from that post this week, a senior law enforcement official said on Saturday.
And at least part of the investigation appears to be using a grand jury based in Fort Pierce, Fla., overseen by a federal judge, Aileen M. Cannon, who issued rulings favorable to Mr. Trump during the classified documents case against him, the official added. Mr. diGenova is expected to split his time between Miami and Fort Pierce.

Another Trump mission fails....How much did Joe con out of taxpayers?

DiGenova told the New York Post last week he resigned over “ethical” disagreements with the DOJ’s leadership, saying, “If you want indictments where there’s no evidence, you have an ethical problem.”Blackvegetable » 10 Sep 2026, 6:59 pm » wrote: ↑ A Trump goon tasked with investigating the president’s political enemies has thrown in the towel.
Joe diGenova submitted his resignation to Attorney General Todd Blanche on Thursday after less than five months at the Justice Department, according to ABC News.
Sources told the outlet diGenova’s resignation comes amid frustration from Trump and senior DOJ officials regarding his oversight of the so-called “grand conspiracy” investigation in Florida.
The 81-year-old was tapped to supervise a probe into Obama- and Biden-era officials out of Fort Pierce, Florida, after he had begged former Attorney General Pam Bondi for the job.
DiGenova, who had previously aided in Donald Trump’s legal effort to reverse his 2020 election loss, was installed shortly after seasoned prosecutor Maria Medetis Long was removed from the probe for expressing doubts about its viability.

It turns out the former federal prosecutor had recently clashed with Blanche, who was Trump’s criminal defense attorney before being tapped to lead the DOJ, after butting heads with officials over the pace of the investigation, sources told CNN.
