Hey Army Vets, we have a looney, self described, military expert claiming the CIB is a participation trophy.

Tiny,

His CIB and Bronze Stars are not conclusive evidence of his participation in combat. The former confirms proximity, the latter (meritorious) doesn't even require that.

You don’t get the CiB without engaging in combat.

post your source that claims he earned the CIB without engaging the enemy in combat.

You don’t get the CiB without engaging in combat.

post your source that claims he earned the CIB without engaging the enemy in combat.

Your problem is the definition of "engagement"...

But you are much too stupid to understand this...

Give us a source and an explanation.  So far you have posted zilch.  Then asking stupid questions.

This is pretty straight forward:

You must be personally present and participating, not just stationed in a combat zone.

AI Overview

To earn the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) in the U.S. Army, a soldier must be an Infantry or Special Forces service member (colonel or below) who is personally present and actively engaging the enemy during active ground combat while assigned to an infantry unit. [1, 2, 3]
Key Eligibility Requirements:
  • MOS Requirement: You must hold an Infantry (11B, 11C, 11Z) or Special Forces (18A, 18B, 18C, 18E, 18F, 18Z) MOS.
  • Unit Assignment: You must be assigned or attached to an Infantry or Special Forces unit (brigade or smaller).
  • Action: The unit must be engaged in active ground combat. You must be personally present and participating, not just stationed in a combat zone.
  • Prohibition: Campaign or battle credit alone does not qualify a soldier for the CIB.

I have posted you words over and over and over.  With no edits, with a link, in context, and verbatim.  Your question is no relevant.

You must be personally present and participating, not just stationed in a combat zone.

It is the gist of the matter.

You must be personally present and participating, not just stationed in a combat zone.

Do you read citations?  It is very specific:

To earn the Combat Infantryman Badge (CIB) in the U.S. Army, a soldier must be an Infantry or Special Forces service member (colonel or below) who is personally present and actively engaging the enemy during active ground combat while assigned to an infantry unit.
