Then of course you can post the proof.

Post your definition of Combat.Huey » 05 May 2026, 6:32 am » wrote: ↑ Then of course you can post the proof.
In order for your narrative to be true you have to change the definition of engaged in combat AND believe you that contrary to Regulation his commander awarded him the badge although he was not qualified.
Show the proof.

I did not come up with the "forgot to duck" medal. I heard it from a Purple Heart awardee.

If an IED goes off three blocks from where you are sitting eating Apple Jacks, are you in "combat"?Huey » 05 May 2026, 6:51 am » wrote: ↑ AI Overview
In the US Army, being "engaged in combat" means actively participating in a physical confrontation, direct-fire fight, or tactical engagement with an enemy force to achieve a specific mission. This involves using direct/indirect fire to destroy or neutralize threats, adhering to Rules of Engagement (ROE) that authorize force based on hostile acts or intent

That's how it was early on in OIF, it seems. I technically didn't qualify for the CIB according to regulations, but I was awarded it anyway due to blanket orders. As I said elsewhere in this thread, I even tried not wearing it a few times because I didn't feel I earned it, but I actually got in trouble for not having it on.
