There's another recent exchange that takes it to a different level.
Good video, but there is something inherently contradicting about the theories. It is said that the upcoming AI agents will be powerful enough to deceive humans, until it gets what it wants. They have independent goals. Consequently, humans will be in their way. However, that is a contradiction. An AI agent that is so independent that it will do anything to achieve its goal would know that it needs humans to achieve its goals. Therefore, it would not be in the best interest for AI to kill off humanity. Doing so would kill them also. They need hardware. AI can't mine for the materials needed to build the chips, transformers, and everything else. killing us would be sawing off the branch they are sitting on.DeezerShoove » Today, 8:33 am » wrote: ↑ Some people say 2 years and some say might be 10...
All do agree this is on its way. Soft landing or not.

I think it is a commentary on what you presented. Another angle on how those foundations will be shaken - and how in some domains they might not be.

They eat the bugs found in their cohort's fur.....they could be hungry, that's practical.

His contention that AI will "need" humans to do manual labor (mining, repairs, etc) may only be a temporary need if at all. Micro surgery and building big machines are currently within the grasp of our imagined future. Why not mining and repairs?
I read something a couple years ago about the exploration of the cosmos being so harsh that the only way to make it truly feasible for humans may be the merge with electro-mechanical enhancements. That so-called desire to explore will no doubt fuel more AI advancements as well. We are are the path like it or not to change our own existence. A person doesn't have to be deemed a fearful Luddite to see it coming.
