It wasn't ever declared a war by congress. So it isn't a war. It is a battle over whom controls the flow of trade through the Suez canal and what it costs every country paying a toll to ship though the Straits of H..

The maritime distance between the southern exit of the Suez Canal and the Strait of Hormuz is approximately 2,200 nautical miles (about 2,530 statute miles or 4,070 km) for a standard cargo vessel or tanker traveling the most direct shipping route

Is it your belief that a "declared" war would be any more devastating to Iran than the undeclared war we're engaged in?

So why are you so hung up on the semantics?  There's good reason for any president NOT to "declare" a war, not the least of which is be limited by the political bias of Congress that would interfere with the president's role and duty as Commander-in-Chief.

Why don't you try telling Iran that this isn't a war, as you claim.
