In the state of VA for EVs and Hybrids they have a highway use tax for EVs and Hybrids when you renew your registration.  It is about 65 bucks.  It cost me 115 bucks to register my car this year.

**** you dems.

Virginia first imposed a flat surcharge for registering electric vehicles (EVs) and hybrid vehicles on July 1, 2013. This initial policy was heavily modified over the years, culminating in the current structure: [1, 2, 3] 1. The Original Surcharge (2013)
  •
  • Date Imposed: July 1, 2013.
  •
  • The Cost: Drivers faced a flat $64 annual registration surcharge for both electric vehicles and traditional hybrids.
  •
  • The Backlash: The hybrid fee was highly controversial since those drivers were already paying standard fuel taxes at the pump. Due to public pushback, the Virginia General Assembly repealed the hybrid portion of the fee just one year later, in 2014. [1, 2, 4, 5, 6]
2. The Overhaul: Highway Use Fee (2020)
  •
  • Date Imposed: July 1, 2020. [7]
  •
  • The Change: Virginia replaced the older surcharge system with a broader Highway Use Fee (HUF). Instead of targeting just EVs and hybrids, it applies to any vehicle with a manufacturer’s combined fuel economy rating of 25 MPG or higher. [3, 8, 9, 10, 11]
  •
  • The Current Cost: EVs pay a flat fee (set at $131.88), while plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and standard fuel-efficient hybrids pay a scaled amount based strictly on their specific MPG rating. [11, 12]
  •
3. Alternative: Mileage Choice Program (2022)
  •
  • Date Imposed: July 1, 2022.
  •
  • The Choice: To give low-mileage drivers a break from the flat surcharge, the state introduced Virginia's Mileage Choice Program. EV and hybrid owners can opt out of the flat fee at registration and instead pay a per-mile fee tracked via an OBD-II device, capped at whatever their flat annual fee would have been. [11, 13, 14]

So which party was in control when Virginia committed these outrages against @*TinyVictimGoldBricky?

In 2013 the GOP held the governorship, senate and house.

In 2020, the Dems controlled all three.

In 2022 In Virginia's Governor and House were GOP.

I think @*TinyVictim should not be allowed to posses firearms.

Odd, I paid a flat fee of 64 dollars the day I posted this.

Try again, NH boy.

What I find funny is you demand I answer a clarification question yet you always refuse.

An important thing for you to do is to figure out if it would be even more for someone who drives 20,000 annually using the HUF.

a buddy has a maverick hybrid…if he doesn’t drive it regularly, it goes into low battery mode disabling all functions…IE FOB, auto start, etc…

I finally convinced him to put a maintainer on it…seems to have taken care of it…

FORD says it’s a software problem with a patch coming out in fall of 2024… Image

One thing I became aware of is if a battery starts to get old or run down for whatever reason, the vehicle software will begin to shed some features to prolong the essential functions. Proximity sensor on door handles, keyless entry, etc. begin to cease functioning. That's the first sign to replace the battery.

except it did it as a brand new, off the lot, weeks old truck…

he actually had to get it towed in to the dealer as he got stranded away from home…

Building customer loyalty kind of means more than just getting it off the lot.
One should reasonably assume you get to run at  least a tank of gas through it . . .

American exceptionalism..  Designed obsolescence and PHd required to repair.

The car got damaged by hail a year ago.  We could not get it in for repair when the crews were here from Oklahoma to heat the metal and suck the dings out.  Mrs got a quote..  11K$. The car was only 22K$ when we bought it.  I can't convince her to wear the war wounds like a crown.  It is paid for.

Maybe they'll settle for a cash payment of like $5K.. That would be nice.

Apples and oranges.
Did Americans create the hailstorm or design the dents?

If you live in an area prone to that kind of storm damage, move out of the trailer park.
