If capitalism is so great, why do corporations need tax breaks, subsidies, exemptions, grants, ballouts, legal protections, and trade barriers to survive? And when ordinary people ask for help, why is it suddenly called socialism?

Gemini, give me examples of each...*giggle*
1. Unfair Tax Breaks
  • Zero-Tax Years and Loopholes: Major corporations frequently leverage depreciation schedules, stock option deductions, and offshore tax havens to drive their effective federal tax rates down to zero, even while posting billions in profits. For instance, tracking analyses by organizations like the Institute on Taxation and Economic Policy (ITEP) have repeatedly highlighted profitable tech and industrial giants utilizing R&D tax credits and accelerated depreciation to pay billions less than the statutory corporate tax rate.
  • The "Race to the Bottom" State Tax Breaks: Local governments routinely offer massive corporate tax abatements to entice companies to build facilities. Cities engaged in bidding wars for corporate headquarters or factories (such as Amazon’s HQ2 competition) routinely offer billions in localized property and income tax waivers that strip funding from local public schools and infrastructure.
2. Subsidies
  • Fossil Fuel Subsidies: Despite generating record revenues and multi-billion-dollar profits, mature oil, gas, and coal conglomerates receive billions annually in direct and indirect federal subsidies (including tax deductions for intangible drilling costs and depletion allowances), which lower their cost of extraction compared to cleaner energy alternatives.
  • Big Agriculture Subsidies: A significant portion of federal agricultural subsidies flows not to small, struggling family farms, but to massive agribusiness conglomerates and commodity crop producers (such as corn, soy, and wheat), often distributed based on sheer volume of production rather than financial need.
3. Exemptions
  • Regulatory and Environmental Exemptions: Major manufacturing, chemical, and energy corporations frequently lobby for exemptions from specific provisions of the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, or labor reporting standards. These exemptions save companies billions in compliance and pollution-mitigation costs by externalizing those costs onto public health and the environment.
  • Antitrust and Tax-Exempt Status Loopholes: Certain large commercial entities or organized professional leagues have historically carved out specific legal exemptions that shield them from standard competitive laws or taxation applied to regular businesses.
4. Grants
  • CHIPS Act and Technological Grants: While framed as national security investments to onshore semiconductor manufacturing, federal industrial policy packages award tens of billions of dollars in direct grants and subsidies to highly profitable microchip giants (such as Intel, Micron, and TSMC) with relatively weak stipulations regarding stock buyback restrictions or guaranteed returns for taxpayers.
  • Research and Development (R&D) Grants: Programs channeled through agencies like the Department of Defense or the Department of Energy frequently award free grant money to major defense contractors and tech firms to develop technologies that the corporations then patent and sell back to the public at immense markups.

5. Bailouts
  • The 2008 Financial Crisis TARP Program: When reckless lending and speculative investments collapsed major Wall Street investment banks and insurance companies (like AIG), the federal government injected hundreds of billions of dollars in emergency funds through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP) to rescue them from bankruptcy, while millions of ordinary homeowners faced foreclosure with minimal direct assistance.
  • Airline and Auto Bailouts: During economic downturns (such as the 2008 auto crisis or the post-2020 aviation disruptions), legacy airlines and automotive manufacturers have routinely received multi-billion-dollar government bailouts, loans, and payroll support packages to keep them afloat.
6. Legal Protections
  • Mandatory Arbitration Clauses: Corporations routinely embed forced arbitration clauses into consumer and employment contracts. These legal barriers strip ordinary people of their constitutional right to a trial by jury, forcing grievances into private arbitration systems heavily favored to protect corporate defendants.
  • Limited Liability and Corporate Personhood: Legal frameworks shield corporate executives, boards, and shareholders from personal financial ruin when a company commits fraud, causes environmental disasters, or harms consumers, restricting financial penalties to corporate assets alone.
7. Trade Barriers
  • Tariffs and Protectionist Quotas: Governments frequently implement steep tariffs on foreign imports (such as steel, aluminum, or foreign automobiles) ostensibly to protect domestic industries from foreign competition. While this shields domestic corporate profit margins, it often forces ordinary consumers to pay inflated prices for goods and invites retaliatory tariffs that damage other domestic sectors like agriculture.
  • Intellectual Property and Pharmaceutical Monopolies: Extended patent protections granted by trade agreements and domestic law allow pharmaceutical corporations to maintain absolute monopolies over life-saving drugs, blocking generic competition and forcing consumers to pay astronomical, artificially inflated prices

No need to recycle anything, the DSA platform has it all written down in black and white.

Tell your rich friends to limit how much they have in retirement accounts. If it's over $10 million, Democrats want a piece of it. They have realized the billionaire doesn't have enough money for their fantasy. After $10 million, it will be $5 million and then $1 million.

If you insist on voting for fiscal profligates, you should stop complaining about the consequences.

IF you insist on voting for more COMMIES and SOCIALISTS, expect even MORE PEOPLE to run from your **** PARTY after Nov!!

Because right now, MORE AND MORE are LEAVING and it's NOT going to be to vote for more of this COMMIE/SOCIALIST ****!!

More and more Americans are leaving the Democratic Party and joining the Republican Party or registering as independents since President Donald Trump took office in 2025. The New York Post reported in August 2025 that over 4.5 million Democrats left their party since 2020. Conversely, the Republican Party has gained over 2.5 million registered voters. The Post further stated that, “Democrats are facing a crisis.” What is causing this serious exodus from the Democratic Party?

Oops!!

And the FARTHER COMMIE YOU GO, THE MORE THAT ARE GOING TO KISS THE **** BUH-BYE111

Now, CHASE ME!!

Liberals are spoiled children, miserable, unsatisfied, demanding, ill-disciplined, despotic & useless. Liberalism is a philosophy of sniveling brats ~O'Rourke

The Democratic Party seems intransigent on their position of keeping the party ‘woke,’ detached, exclusionary, and totally insane.

Assuredly, there are pinheads out there that believe Democrats have not raised the price of any taxes, goods or services. Denying those facts makes them look a bit on the retarded side.

I wasn't complaining about Capitalism, it worked out far better for us than I realized. All the corporations getting all those benefits listed above made us hundreds of thousands of dollars, no college education required!

Don't hold your breath waiting for ANY DSA member to supply you with data on their fantasy.

In fairness, there are only ever fiscal profligates on the ballot, so YOU voted for fiscal profligates.

They were just not as profligate as republicans, since that would be impossible. Nothing in politics is more dangerous than a republican with a checkbook.
