///////Really, y’all? This is America now? Rounding up our wild horses, selling them over the border to be slaughtered for profit? A New York Times journalist recently reported that the numbers of wild horses at the auction house has increased dramatically. In 2025, the government sold 3,700 wild horses, many of whom ended up in Canadian slaughterhouses.

We have a really big problem in our society. Everyone is seen as a unit of profit, everyone can be commodified. There is no inherent respect for the land or its inhabitants beyond what profit and power it can give. We see this in our factory farming systems every day, we see this in the decimation of the land and “culling” of wild animals — and now we see it in the sale and slaughter of our wild horses, a poignant and tragic symbol of where we are headed.

I used to participate in this system unwittingly. I was indoctrinated into the cult of American killing as a young girl growing up in Texas. I saw violence in my home and I tasted violence in my food. I went to the rodeo, I ate barbecued animal flesh and I married a hunter and later cattle rancher.

I brought this up in a different thread.
This administration just alienated just about every horse owner in the country if they hear of this. He doesn't understand that horse people live and breathe horse. They'll choose their horses over political affiliation every time.
These wild horses are an iconic symbol of freedom. They're a part of the fabric that makes America great. And they want to kill them. For more **** money!!!
I'm a horse person. Have been my whole life.
I have a picture of me on the back of a horse at age 4.  To this day I own 2 horses and a mule. Plus my dog. That's my whole family. They travel with me from Michigan to Canada and back.
Hearing about this made me more sad than angry at first. But the more I hear about it though the more angrier I'm getting.
Not sure I'll come back to this **** of a country in the spring when I leave next week.

So the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) creates all these problems, and then people are surprised that government **** up yet another thing.

Solution. Abolish the BLM

You might remember a little affair between Bundy and the BLM.

BLM and its bureaucrats had its case dismissed against Bundy.  My understanding is the Bundy’s cattle still resides on “federal” land, and Bundy has never kicked up the “rent” money to the fed government organized criminals.

////////Under Trump, wild horses sold by the government are turning up at slaughter auctions. They are still wearing the government's brand.
The New York Times published the investigation Thursday. Since Trump returned to office, the Bureau of Land Management has more than doubled its sales of federally protected wild horses. It sold about 3,700 in 2025 alone.
At one government sale event in Poteau, Oklahoma, the Times found at least 55 mustangs, identified by the BLM's own freeze brands, surfacing days later at livestock auctions in Kansas and Texas frequented by slaughter buyers.
The government spends roughly $3,000 to capture a wild horse, chasing it down by helicopter and trucking it to holding pens where some 60,000 already stand. Then, if a horse is past ten years old or goes unclaimed through three adoption listings, the law allows it to be sold outright. The moment it sells, the statute stops calling it a wild horse. Every protection Congress wrote falls away with the signature.
