I know this is a stupid question, but when you go deer hunting, can the deer spot you easier if you wear orange?roadkill » 08 Nov 2017 10:54 am » wrote:Orange is safety for all types of hunting...but many bird hunters use a color that blends with the surrounding scenery.
My dad always said, "Keep your head, hands, and feet warm...the extremities.
Maybe think warmth for your grandson.

Karma is a bitch and her name is Ashley.NJ official who mocked Women's March defeated by candidate he inspired to run.
A Republican New Jersey official who posted a meme mocking the Women's March was defeated in an election last night by a woman who was inspired by his remarks to run for office, The Associated Press reported Wednesday.
Democrat Ashley Bennet defeated Republican John Carman Tuesday for the Atlantic County freeholder seat, according to the AP.
Carman posted a meme on the day of the Women's March that featured a woman in a kitchen and the message, "Will the women's protest be over in time for them to cook dinner?"
"Just asking?" he wrote alongside the meme.
Carman later apologized, but first-time candidate Bennet decided to challenge him for the seat after being angered by the image.
Carman attended President Trump's inauguration in January, Philly.com reported, which took place just one day before the march.
He has also received criticism for wearing a patch with the Confederate flag.
When I was a kid my dad told me that deer and elk can't detect the color of orange like we can, but they can detect the brilliance of the color. If that's true then the hunter would be easier to spot by both man and beast.Misty » 08 Nov 2017 3:25 pm » wrote: I know this is a stupid question, but when you go deer hunting, can the deer spot you easier if you wear orange?
Don't you need to hide and be quiet so as not to scare them away?
Will they spot the orange gear, or are they color blind?
Don't laugh at my questions.
I'm a city girl living in a rural world.
I would prefer to buy him the orange safety stuff, but if is no good for deer hunting, he won't wear it.
Good idea.roadkill » 08 Nov 2017 4:21 pm » wrote:When I was a kid my dad told me that deer and elk can't detect the color of orange like we can, but they can detect the brilliance of the color. If that's true then the hunter would be easier to spot by both man and beast.
Your grandson must wear orange so he doesn't get shot by another hunter...you probably have many more hunters in the woods in your more populated area so I would definitely wear orange. We wear orange here too for safety. Just call your local sporting goods store and ask them...they will know what's best for your area for both deer and bird hunting.

Hunting accidents do happen. One of my best friends was killed by an out of state hunter when we were kids.Misty » 08 Nov 2017 4:33 pm » wrote: Good idea.
They hunt on state lands, so I don't know how many hunters are in the woods.
Hunting is big here.
They close the schools on the first day of deer hunting season.
I am so nervous about him going hunting, but he loves it.
One of my cousins killed his friend in a hunting accident once.
Thanks.
I don't have much patience to sit through a whole movie any more, but I will try.
I don't know if he has, but I will be sure to ask him.roadkill » 08 Nov 2017 4:44 pm » wrote:Hunting accidents do happen. One of my best friends was killed by an out of state hunter when we were kids.
I assume your grandson has taken a course in hunter's safety...if he hasn't HE SHOULD! I took it when I was 12 years old...that was back in the Jurassic Period.

FOX NEWS' SEAN HANNITY DEVOTED ALL OF SIX SECONDS TO DEMOCRATS WINNING IN VIRGINIA
Fox News host Sean Hannity devoted all of six seconds of his show Hannity to the result of the Virginia gubernatorial election as the results showed a win for Democrat Ralph Northam Tuesday night.
"Those results in Virginia, New Jersey, and New York, by the way—not states that Donald Trump won," Hannity said at the top of his show, suggesting that the results didn’t matter and had already been decided.
His statement on the election lasted all of six seconds.
