You are upset that he wanted the penalty to fit the crime. The justice system has wrongly convicted innocent people before and will again. So what does that have to do with the ad he placed calling for penalties to fit the crime. Liberals gained too much sway at times. In drug related crimes an analysis was done about the penalties vs ongoing behavior and penalties were changed to longer sentences. The result was the crime rate dropped. Liberals had a hissy fit and had the penalties returned to the previous ones. The crime rate increased to the previous levels. That fact proves his assertion in that add. You libs are a pain in the rear. Let the punishment fit the crime is ignored by liberals!!!

Yes, your party gained the House.
But it lost a Senate seat.
And made minimal gains in governorships.
Congrats, you won back Illinois and kept Connecticutt. Now Democrats will be in charge as they continue to collapse into literal bankruptcy.

And secondly, even after these men were exonerated by DNA evidence and a confession by the real attacker, he did not back down or apologize for being wrong.
He actually thought it was wrong for these innocent men to get a settlement after having spent years in jail for a crime they did not commit.

In 1989, after these black and Latino teenagers from Harlem were accused of assaulting and raping a white woman in Central Park, Mr. Trump spent $85,000 placing full-page ads in the four daily papers in New York City, calling for the return of the death penalty.
“Muggers and murderers,” he wrote, “should be forced to suffer and, when they kill, they should be executed for their crimes.”
Though he didn’t refer to the teenagers by name, it was clear to anyone in the city that he was referring to them.
Incredibly, 14 years after their sentences were vacated based on DNA evidence and the detailed and accurate confession of a serial rapist named Matias Reyes, Mr. Trump has doubled down.
“They admitted they were guilty,” he said in a statement to CNN this month.

The fact that that case was settled with so much evidence against them is outrageous.”
Mr. Trump is apparently ignorant of our country’s epidemic of wrongful convictions, which disproportionately affect minorities, and the prevalence of false confessions in those convictions.
Why the continued belief in the guilt of the Central Park Five, despite all the evidence to the contrary?

The only real surprise in governor's races was Kansas. Mostly your party made gains in Blue States.
