At least three reasons suggested this photograph was an authentic image. First, the official YouTube page of Covington Catholic posted a (now deleted) video on 24 January 2018 titled “Colonel Crazies Compilation Video” — a reference to the nickname given to that school’s cheering section — which showed numerous students covered in black paint present at several basketball games. One clip could possibly be from the same game shown in the photograph, based on the distribution of painted players and the year (2012) the video was allegedly taken.

Second, the photograph appeared to originate with a message board for Kentucky prep schools titled BluegrassPreps.com where it was posted on 7 December 2015, well before the controversy over the January 2019 viral video. The photograph was posted as part of a discussion on whether or not “The Colonel Crazies’ treatment of inbounders” — players making an inbound passes — should change, and the thread included posts from several individuals defending both the antics and the wearing of black paint as well.

I don't care what Snopes says. As I pointed out in the other post on the other thread. That game they are talking about was played at George Rogers Clark High School in Clark County. First, that school doesn't wear uniforms that say Clark County because that's not the name of the school. I posted a pic of their uniforms in the other post.

Second, since that game was played at GRC HS visiting teams would't be allowed to act that way in someone else's gym. If the game was played at Covington Catholic they would but they would be kicked out of a school (or get their asses kicked) if they did that at a school they were visiting. I guarantee that the pic is either bogus or it's not Covington Catholic.

Seems like a lot of people here do not agree with that, and will not even concede that his makeup looked like the makeup worn by Minstrel Show performers.

Ok you can have your thread back but I'll say one more thing. I guess it's all subjective but I don't think these kids put this make up on and thought let's make ourselves up as minstrels and the parents/teachers never thought their intent was to look like minstrels or they wouldn't have allowed it. I think people think that just because this is from Kentucky that everyone is a bunch of racist hillbillies. But as I pointed out before Covington is a suburb of Cincinnati, is one of the top high schools in the state and has been around for many years, most of the parents of these kids are intelligent and hard working (probably affluent). My step son attended this school.

Something else that is also probably subjective is I don't believe the kid were being (purposfully) disrespectful to the Indians. The tomahawk chop is considered fine in many places, and the dancing is know big deal. The were dancing to the drum beat.

Native Americans do have an issue with displays like that at sporting events and with names of teams like The Redskins.
