You forgot to mention that while in high school the bartender came in second in the Microbiology category of the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair with a microbiology research project on the effect of antioxidants on the lifespan of the nematode C. elegans.
And in a show of appreciation for her efforts, the MIT Lincoln Laboratory named a small asteroid after her: 23238 Ocasio-Cortez.
Also while in high school, she took part in the National Hispanic Institute's Lorenzo de Zavala (LDZ) Youth Legislative Session, and later became the LDZ Secretary of State while she attended Boston University.
Oh, and she graduated cum laude from Boston University College of Arts and Sciences with a BA in 2011, majoring in international relations and economics.
She beat a ten term incumbent Congressman by 15 points and is now the youngest woman to ever serve in the United States Congress.
But to you she's just a bartender.
