Putting aside that troll lie, here are key facts about the glorious Carter Economy.Cannonpointer » 20 Feb 2014 4:13 pm » wrote: Then why have you consistently lied that you posted them here?
Is that the sign of the healthy economy you claim Carter left to Reagan? The average annual inflation rate from 1900 to 1970 was approximately 2.5%. From 1970, however, the average rate hit about 6%, topping out at 13.3% by 1979. This period is also known for "stagflation", a phenomenon in which inflation and unemployment steadily increased, therefore leading to double-digit interest rates that rose to unprecedented levels (above 12% per year). The prime rate hit 21.5 in December 1980, the highest in history.[4]
By the time of 1980, when U.S. President Jimmy Carter was running for re-election against Ronald Reagan, the misery index (the sum of the unemployment rate and the inflation rate) had reached an all-time high of 21.98%

You will be exposed to the difference between me, and the vast majority of right wing hacks on this board - the very worst elements of which are incorporated and incarnated (if he's human and not a bot) in the drivel we get from Glory Hole Clem. There it is, folks. There is Glory Hole Clem, in a nut shell.
He values "accepted" opinion over GENERATED opinion. A subject cannot be argued on its merits between us. We must always defer to authority. A PROPOSITION HAS LESS VALUE OR MORE VALUE BASED ON WHO IT COMES FROM.
Just think of it. His COMPLAINT is that my sources were only cited for raw statistics, and not opinions. That was his COMPLAINT - that I made my own case instead of repeating talking points generated elsewhere.
And now you see what a chump this guy is, from his own mouth, in his own words.
Please - vote in the poll.

The inflation was caused by Fed easy money, and the stagnation was caused by Dems' regulations that restricted economic growth, high tax rates on "the rich" and automatic tax hikes via bracket creep.GeorgeWashington » 07 Nov 2014 7:49 am » wrote: What caused stagflation and what was the resolution?
No, no, no. He left to work a lot and make a bunch of money because the economy was implodingRichClem » 20 Feb 2014 5:14 pm » wrote:I'm out of here.

The root cause was the Fed. You know, the same bankers that have been propping up the stock market via qe∞ and saying inflation is not a concern. In the 70's the stock market lost 40% in 18 months. We should expect a similar correction.RichClem » 07 Nov 2014 8:10 am » wrote: The inflation was caused by Fed easy money, and the stagnation was caused by Dems' regulations that restricted economic growth, high tax rates on "the rich" and automatic tax hikes via bracket creep.
Likely other reasons, too.
Oh, and oil profit caps, too.
Carter's and Dems' stupidity was legendary.
Fed policy was a big part, but bracket creep caused a large automatic tax hike every year as Americans were pushed into higher and higher brackets.GeorgeWashington » 07 Nov 2014 10:35 am » wrote: The root cause was the Fed.
