No. It is an independent ammunition storage and feeding device.

A piece of a gun would be a frame, a slide, barrel, trigger, firing pin, return spring, etc.
All the "pieces" assembled to make the gun function.

A magazine is optional. It is not a required to make the gun useable, it is not a "piece of a gun"

One could say a magazine is a "Gun Part", but not a piece of a gun.

So what is it a piece to?

Does it have an independent function?
