That's odd, because the only article I could find on it (just now) seems to suggest that two bills were proposed in NC following the 2020 election, one by Republicans and the other by Democrats, and according to the article it was the Democrat's bill that proposed automatic voter registration.
Perhaps you're aware of more recent developments re it than I am.

It is a constant seen in the media cycles. Hysterical claims are made for a lengthy period, and as those get proven out by data or by direct evidence — by reality — the hysterics evaporate and so does the story. There is no flood of follow-up pieces on par with the tsunami of dire consequences in articles and columns. The journos simply move on to the next promised nefarious event.

- When REPUBLICANS criminally form a group of FAKE ELECTORS, draw up fraudulent documents, stamp them with official state seals, and send them to National Archives as if they were LEGIT, THAT'S VOTER SUPPRESSION.
