Bugsy has been gone since 2018.
Also cancer. **** cancer and Boxers.
We rescued Vito in 2018. Drove to Ohio to get him.
Boxers and Poodles play really well together.
Vinny is a tough little bastard. lol

There is no more esthetically appealing breed. Next to a standard poodle properly groomed, akidas are butt ugly.

But I remain a goldie man, myself. I can think of a thousand things to mix a chow or a husky with, and come out with a superior animal. The only thing to mix a goldie with is another goldie. 

After that, a chow mix - husky, collie, aussie; several breeds will make a fine combination that outshines either of their parents. I would say a full blood dane next after a goldie, but they are too hard to care for and too short lived.

They always die of cancer.
Always, and I have had enough.
Danes were also on my list, but like you said, too short lived.
The grooming is a daily occurrence, but it doesn't take too long and it's a good bonding activity.

Al. Goldens are nice dogs.. But I have a friend that lost 4 to cancer. At age 7. So maybe it was a good thing you didn't go that route either.

Goldens have become so overbred and poorly bred.
Once a dog gets really popular, the backyard breeders churn them out rapidly.

We have Boxers on both sides of us.. Neighbors..
 Bella gets loose. She gets in trouble at the other neighbors.. So when ever she comes into my yard.. I go Bella.. In my car.. Now!!
She jumps right in like a good girl, and I give her a ride home.

We had one dog, another won't match up.  So the dog we have now is a cat.  We treat him a lot like a dog and after 10 years, he acts like a dog in some ways.  Of course he's a cat so he still figures that everything in the environment is his property, but that's OK.  I don't trust anybody who doesn't like cats.

Dogs, cats, squirrels, raccoons, birds, all the mammals and birds are sentient beings.  And since they are not human, they are all noble creatures and preferable to humans.  When we destroy ourselves they will be so much better off.

I have a cat right now that I saved from the mouth of a Golden Retriever.
He was no bigger than a beanie baby cat.
He is now 19 years old.
He has always loved all my dogs. Especially my Rottweiler.
He is still very healthy, so who knows how long he will be around.
My last cat lived to be 23.
I will never have another cat because I can't stomach a litter box.
But, I do think cats are pretty awesome.

Love that movie and Michael Douglass character was at least partially responsible for the situation.

This is mine... Azrael... I wouldn describe him as awesome though... he's in hiding because he's afraid of the thunder outside.. lol..he's kind of stoopid and a coward but he's cute...

I bought my sister's chihuahuas and "thunder blanket. Its one of those weighted throws - TOTALLY calms them.
