The only one that we ever had success with is smallpox. (It still exists in labs.)
That had to do with "animal reservoirs" which smallpox did not have (lucky us).

This one is a corona virus. Manmade or not, it's still just that.
We have never won a battle with this type.
Everyone on Earth has been exposed to a corona virus.

If we were smart    we would be testing for natural immunity/resistance.
Of course, there's probably not much money in that.

Read the headlines just before rona hit the scene. Europe and the US were applying pressure on China for ip theft, unfair trade practices, and human rights abuses. Chinese companies made billions selling us masks and other items to treat a pandemic they accidentally or deliberately released. Plenty of motive. Having half of Americans blaming Trump was a bonus.
