Microsoft still wasn't answering so I opted for the 10 hour wait with DR DOS help line. After 10 hours I started to explain the issue. I didn't even finish my sentence. I said, "I'm trying to install Windows 4.0 and..." then I was interrupted. He said, "Yes we know what the problem is. Boot off your DR DOS floppy and go to your DR DOS directory. Type rename DRDOS.CFG to DRDOS.BAK. Install windows 4.0. It will finish in about 10 hours. After you are done rename DRDOS.BAK back to DRDOS.CFG. You'll be good to go". I was like, "WTF!!!!". He said, "Yes. Windows considers DRDOS a threat to their monopoly of the operating system. So they check before completing the install to see whether this file exists. If it does they won't let you complete the install."

DR DOS received countless calls and it literally swamped their help lines and cost them millions. As a startup this was something they could ill afford. Eventually this and other blatantly unfair trade practices by Microsoft put them under. They filed suit. In the early 80's trying to get a jury of 12 to understand what an operating system even is was an impossible task. But they succeeded.... 10 years later after they had already filed for bankruptcy. Microsoft was found in violation of antitrust and the former stock holders were awarded a pittance in damages. Microsoft remains one of the dominant OS to this day. I will NEVER forgive them for wasting my time and costing me (one of their customers) valuable time and money dealing with their crap. So we agree there are abuses. But these aren't capitalism. We have antitrust laws in place for just this reason. Unfortunately, our legal system is very slow in dealing with this crap and legal fees are outrageous. Lawyers can drag on a case far beyond the point were damages can be fully redressed.

When I finally got to speak to Microsoft to file a complaint and at least vent my anger at SOMEONE from Microsoft they gave me the standard response.  "DR DOS is not compatible with WINDOWS 4.0 so were were doing a service to our customers preventing installation of both products to avoid the customer losing data".  I continued to run DR DOS for quite some time thereafter and NEVER had any issues.  Evidence later came out this was a complete fabrication.
So you typed all that just to tell us that microsoft is pure evil..... seriously?

Maybe you should consider cutting back on the nourishment

Well, that is both unpleasant, and an admission that you are flying a false flag. Whose sok are you? I never thought to check - took you a face value.

Pretty sure the rest of the board understood I was talking about a redistributionist welfare state mechanism - not government qua government. You SURE you've fielded this question before? Because you're fielding a very different and very stupid question, now. I can see why you find it annoying. As you have misformulated it, it's pretty retarded.

Okay, I'm not going any further down this rabbit hole.

Who did YOU think started the first round of bailouts? Ron Reagan?

I don't only blame W for the bailouts - I blame him and his socialist party for the crash in the first place. After all, it was the American Dream Down Payment Act which broke the game - though the house of cards was destined to fall eventually, notwithstanding.

I will let the criminal who gave people with no job, no money and no credit free houses on the public teat explain the crime to you in his own words, so that you need not take MY word for anything:

But in truth, capitalism is all about government enforced monopolies - and I have given you plenty of examples to dispute, if you can do so.

Explain to us, for example, how the current bullying to get vaxed, using government muscle to force people to take wall street's products, is a mere foible. Or explain how the takeover of the vape market using the government gun is not a feature of capitalism, but a mere foible. Or how preventing new entrants into the market place in the solar pane industry is not a feature, but merely a foible, of capitalism. Or how nullifying the democratic power of governments through trade treaties is not a threat to national sovereignty and an attempt to overthrow/overtake the government from within.

I believe you meant "rationalize" not relegate.  IAE, I've clearly supported limiting government as did the Founding Fathers.  And like I said, this isn't unique to capitalism or even the American Idea.  It's just plain corrupt and has been a facet of every nation under every system since the beginning of time.  The fact that people circumvent the law doesn't mean you throw out the law, let alone the entire system.  Should we improve our prosecution of such matter?  Of course.

If you would have minimalist government, do not support big government

Capitalism RELIES on government from birth to death. FIRST, a trading board is formed on the public teat and under the government gun, giving insiders access to billions in anonymous monies NOT available to free enterprisers (mom and pops).

SECOND, the government forms multiple regulatory bodies to maintain public confidence in the trading board.

THIRD, the government secures the monopoly powers of the agencies created through this agglomerated wealth, which agencies are incorporated with government for the purpose of their existence, and are given powers by government. An example is so-called public utilities, which operate at a regulated profit for the good of the public - in theory. In practice, they gouge. Because they bribe the regulators.

FOURTH, these agencies are granted eternal life, and recognized as having "rights." Now, if you believe in the Declaration of Independence - which is THE Founding Document whose promises the Constitution was ratified to deliver, then you understand that all men are created equal and endowed BY THEIR CREATOR with rights. So, ACCORDING TO OUR FOUNDING DOCUMENTS, rights come for the Creator. Not from the nanny state. It's an established fact of American law that rights come from God.

Given this, we can do a math equation to say exactly how many rights are on the planet at any moment. The formula is N (number of right) times P (Human Population) = R (rights existing in this moment of time)

If CORPORATIONS - creatures of men, not God - are given RIGHTS, then those rights must be taken from men, since all rights, under American law, come from God.

The system you support steals God-given rights from people and gives them to corporations (creatures of government). You should not support this.

The corner grocer and the bakery down the street and the butcher across the way are NOT in the same economic system as Bear Stearns. The system you support has a name in the bible: MAMMON.

I am talking about the socialist giveaway that broke the bank in the first place - not the "loans" that you've been convinced (and I have not) were repaid.
My apologies.  You were indeed speaking of a different matter.

You couldn't be more wrong.  Your confirmation bias is showing.  The video you refer too, which was spread to you by left-wing propagandists, is a video detailing a 1/2 Billion dollar government program 6 years earlier which was basically another example of socialist welfare entitlements.  If your confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance has so strong a grip on your reasoning I suggest you take a break from Google searches which are worded in such a manner as to only expose you to more such drivel.  You lack the ability to filter such material through an unbiased lens and your ability to fine tune your google searches to the exclusion of more reasonable assessments is too refined.

No sane person would fall for the notion that $1/2 Billion dollars in entitlements brought down the entire financial system of the US.  This amount wouldn't be sufficient to take down Liechtenstein, let alone the US financial system.  Furthermore, the government program touted in the video as proof W Bush was responsible for the financial collapse doesn't even involve the Financial Industry.  It was merely a transaction inside the balance sheets of the Federal Government.  And a minor transaction at that.  The US Government gives away $1/2 Billion in social programs every hour of every day.  Even though this has NOTHING to do with the Financial Industry even if it did, FOREX volume is I believe somewhere around 8 Trillion US$ per day.

What you regurgitated in the video here was another attempt by the left-wing propagandists to shift the blame away from their policies and attach it too their ideological adversaries in such an obvious and feeble manner I question your ability to think for yourself.  What they did (AFTER THE FACT) was attempt to wipe the egg of their face by searching for any material in the record in which W Bush mentioned anything to do with housing and the poor.  They found an incredibly minor and irrelevant $1/2 Billion giveaway and threw it out there, knowing this was all you needed and your confirmation bias and cognitive dissonance would ignore all reasonable consideration, fail to do your own analysis, and you were OFF TO THE RACES.

This program (minute as it was) merely GAVE low income Americans cash payments (like here you go... Welfare) for down payments on home purchases. That's all. They still had to qualify for the purchase of those homes by applying to a bank and going through the credit process. They were allowed to include the prospect of the government grant in the application in the event the bank approved the loan after examining their credit. If the bank turned them down, then they didn't get the home or the down payment money.  It was still at the banks discretion whether they believed the loans were wise.  There was no coercion of the banks to force them to give the loans beyond providing their customers with WELFARE to pay to the bank.  It could only HELP (in a very minute way) the banks.  It did not cause the financial industry ANY detrimental impact.  But you saw it and immediately bought into it because your brain WANTED to believe it wasn't YOUR GUYS and YOUR IDEOLOGY which were responsible.  Your brain NEEDED it to be true.  And your failure to understand this tendency is what caused you to regurgitate utter nonsense and attribute all manner of undue impact just as the propagandist hoped you would.

The financial crisis and the CRA which caused it was an entirely different beast. And yes that was fully in the DNC left-wing socialist camp

I don't think so. The Canada Regulatory Agency had no power to give homes to unqualified people to reward them for their skin color.

Republicans did that.

Here - I will show you an actual VIDEO of them DOING IT.

But I cannot force you to watch it, and if I cajole you into it, I cannot force you to comprehend it.

I think you mean half a trillion.

Let me be more precise. I mean half a trillion. And that is soft-selling and under-reporting. Federal programs NEVER operate at their advertised price, and this one was no exception. It was the BALE of straw that broke the camel's back.

I did not bother to read farther - we're not discussing the same issue. I would not have bothered to mention a half billion dollar project, and after constant prodding, you have failed to address a half trillion dollar nanny state republican boondoggle based on race. I prodded you how many times to address the issue in the video? And when you finally addressed it, you reduced by a one thousand times and dismissed it as left wing propaganda. Yes - George W. Bush stood at a podium and rolled out a socialist spending program in order to produce left wing propaganda. No, really. That happened.

Either you made an honest mistake, or you're just not interested in an honest debate. Do apprise me with an appropriate response, won't you? But whatever way you go, do take notice that a man's own words, in context, will never be agreed by me to be his enemies' propaganda. And for that matter, only YOU are abused to believe that he and the clintons are "enemies." W's mom calls bill clinton her "other" son. W supported hitlery over Trump. So, the facile **** that Bush's OWN WORDS are manufactured by the left is rejected, sir.

@LibDave

Here is a post you might have missed. I bring it to your attention for three reasons:

1. It was nominated for Post of the Day by a fellow stalwart for truth in trolling;
2. It was AWARDED Post of the Day (and received the obligatory 1000 rep points) by another fellow stalwart, whom I appointed to the post which she so magnificently and even-handedly administers;
3. It's rather spot on, IMO.

You bring some game - but you need to rethink your allegiances. Who did you THINK was doing all of bubba clinton's wet work? Santy Claus?

The only guy with the power to go rubbing out high profile individuals and covering it up was Bubba's rabbi: George HW Bush. That's why when HE died, the rest of the left finally got the balls to tell the clintons to **** off.

Anyhow, the promised post:

Yes, we are replete with lowbrows, always. And yes, we tire of holding our end and engage in a bit of trolling.

But many of us on this board have worked through the level one **** you are bringing. I mean, you sling adam smith like he's the new kid with the shiny idea. A bit of infill has been experienced since his day. We've gone from theory to practice.

And it is the actual practice of capitalism that affects our lives - not the theory.

You still have not explained why the nanny state needs to be involved in the economy at the level of regulating the trading boards which you APPARENTLY require in order for you and some buddies to go into bidness together...
