CRA was the Community Reinvestment Act.  To summarize it required any bank with a charter to operate in the United States maintain at least 25% of the loans on their books to subprime borrowers in inner-city neighborhoods.  Subprime borrower is the term used to describe any borrower with a credit score below 600.  In other words VERY bad credit risks.  Any bank which didn't maintain 25% of their loans to these high risk creditors would lose its charter and not be allowed to bank in the US.

Mountains of evidence is available!  The Democrats were quite proud to proclaim their authorship.  Mountains of Congressional hearings indicate the Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee and the Senate Finance Committee show the Republicans vehemently warning the Democrats this was not only questionably unconstitutional, but a very stupid thing to do.

The backwards left-wing reasoning was this.  The main investment for most in the middle-class is their home.  Those in the middle class get loans in their 20's and 30's and then gradually pay off the home over about 30 years normally.  The value of the home increased in value by an average of 10%.  This was very consistent and housing hadn't had a decrease in value in over 50 years.  An amazing run until you realize the reason the real estate prices increase is because the government overspends and prints money.  Nothing is a safer bet than government socialists over spending.  So by their F'd up logic the reason those in the middle-class are middle-class is because they can qualify to get loans from banks.  So if the Democrats FORCE the banks to give loans to poor people who also have bad credit then the poor will become middle-class and the Democrats will be touted as the HEROS THAT IRRADICATED POVERTY IN OUR TIME.  They shouted it from the roof tops.  They even added provisions stating that unverified means of income could be used by the banks to approve the loans and other such crap.  For instance if you were a crack dealer or a prostitute you could just write down approximately what you made.  They became known in the banking industry as NINJA loans.  No Income, No Job or Assets!!!  Gee that sounds like a wise thing to do... force banks to give crack dealers, prostitutes, winos, whatever loans to buy houses.
 

In exchange the Democrats assured the banks everything would be fine, they had their backs because Fanny Mae and Freddie Mac were insuring the loans. The Republicans began sounding alarm bells. Countless debate in committee hearings show the RNC warning them that if a nationwide downturn in real estate occurred then Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would have no hope of covering the policies. The DNC said no need to worry. That hasn't happened in 50 years and in the unlikely event it does the Federal Government will step in and back the policies.

Later after it unfolded it was discovered these same Congressmen were receiving all kinds of preferential treatment and payoffs from the Banking industry. The banks loved it and had record profits while it lasted. For example it was discovered Chris Dodd had received an $11M loan to purchase a gorgeous mansion. The terms of the loan were ZERO percent interest, No money down, and No Payment schedule, just an $11M debt on their books. He failed to disclose the loan on various other loan applications and didn't disclose the property on his Congressional Financial Statement. When the crisis broke and he came under Ethics committee investigation he claimed, "I had no idea I had received preferential treatment." Give me a freaking break!!! Yeah like everyone goes to the bank and gets a loan to buy an $11M mansion with No down payment, at No interest, without even a payment schedule? He had to think something was up after living their for 8 years without ever making a payment? In a vain attempt to feign contrition he sold the house for 18M, paid off the 11M loan and kept seven saying he had "satisfied the terms".  He eventually announced he would not seek another term in the Senate (when it was obvious he wouldn't win).

So no, it doesn't fly. Dems did this and no amount of irrelevant regurgitation of LW Propaganda will change the reality we all witnessed unfold.

BTW, the CRA also funded $90M/year for 10 years to fund a group known as ACORN (Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now).  An amazing coincidence since Barack Obama's only experience prior to running for POTUS was as a major player in ACORN.  He was a "community organizer".  He served 2 years in the Illinois State Legislature and only attended 2 votes.  Sickening.  No wonder the financial industry got bailed out.

ACORN has since changed it's bad name.  This same group was also implicated in Voter Fraud activities during BOTH of Obama's bids for election and still receives millions of dollars in taxpayer money every year.  They were tasked by the CRA to go into these inner-city neighborhoods to root out these subprime borrowers and inform and encourage them to take advantage of the loans foisted upon the banks.

I believe that was investigated.  It wasn't Cheney's company.  He relinquished his holdings long before his tenure in office.  He received no compensation while in office.  I used to work for Lockheed Martin.  If I get elected to office does that mean Lockheed Martin can no longer submit proposals for continued government defense contracting?

I am VERY familiar with the Defense Department Procurement Process.  All government defense (or any gov agency) contracts are reviewed by much lower level agents.  Even the POTUS isn't allowed to know who actually ranks proposals.  It's kept secret even within the dept..  Requests For Proposals (RFP's) are published.  Halliburton and others submit their proposals.  Once the proposal window closes various agents are secretly selected from within or outside the department.  The timing prevents bids submitted from being leaked to competitors who could alter their bids accordingly.

These agents are chosen based on their expertise and ability to analyze specific items within the proposals.  Some are say electrical engineers, others are environmental specialists, some are financial experts who analyze the companies financial stability, all different skill sets depending on what the contract is for.  You will get a notification so-and-so is on a leave of absence if you attempt to contact them but don't know whether it is vacation or to analyze proposals.  This prevents those who are bidding from knowing who to bribe.  Cell phones are provided, usually top-level clearances, and any right to privacy is waived.  It is understood they can and do monitor all activities, especially during the analysis of proposals.  Bank accounts are even monitored for suspicious transactions.  The government doesn't even trust its own people to spend the taxpayers money wisely, free of corruption.

The input of all these agents on their area of expertise is given to the group and the group calculates and determines who is awarded the contract. Once awarded all documentation on the results of the analysis is provided to all those who submitted proposals where they can see how they were ranked in various categories and why. It is clear to everyone why it was scored as it was and the equation used to score it was detailed in the original RFP indicating what weight will be given for various factors. For instance Cost might be worth 30%, company stability might be 10%, Technical solution might be 40%, etc.

Afterward, losing proposers are given a window of time in which they can protest the award. In such cases the contract is put on hold until a different team can audit the team's decision. The cost of this audit must be paid by the protesting company, not to exceed a small percentage of the total contract. Sometimes companies will do this just to delay their competitors from doing business. The cost of protest is set to discourage this and recoup the taxpayers money for the cost of the audit. This process too is defined in the original RFP. None of the competing firms issued a protest at the time of the award.

It was investigated VERY thoroughly by the Democrats in an attempt to discover wrong-doing. They came up flat. You can read the report. I did at the time. I myself was suspicious. But there was nothing out of the ordinary. None of the scorers had any inexplicable transactions and none appeared to have had any contact with Cheney or anyone else they could determine. Cheney was likely never even aware who or how it was awarded.

Accusations aren't guilt. Anyone can be accused. I'm actually glad the Democrats went on the attack and investigated. But we should all refrain from judgement until the investigation is revealed and not regurgitate accusations of guilt until then.

Now contrast this with how the Hillary investigation was handled by the Democrats?  And their repeated and unwarranted and unsubstantiated accusations and investigation of Trump for that matter.

Not saying that at all.  I've seen Republicans do f'd up s$%# and get caught too.  Difference is the Republicans boot them out and acknowledge the obvious improprieties.  And I am the first to call them out on it (once the investigation and evidence is exposed).  Like I said in regards to Cheney, I was suspicious and welcomed the investigation.  Cheney was very forthcoming even though it wasn't in his interests legally.  During the Russia hoax Trump even issued an Executive order encouraging all members of the Executive branch answer all questions posed by the FBI in this regard.  Failure to do so would result in them being discharged.  Trump himself answered all such questions.

The Dems did no such thing when it was discovered the Hillary campaign was responsible and many many top bureaucrats (some in the FBI itself) were complicit in the hoax and were criminally liable.  Still going on to this day.  In spite of the evidence unfolding for all to see they continued the charade and actually impeached (nothing more than an accusation by Congress) the President.  They have no shame.  Schiff and Nadler are a complete joke.  It would make for a hilarious comedy if not so embarrassing to themselves, the Congress, the nation.  They have damaged any credibility the institution ever had.  Not that we gave the Dems in Congress much credit to begin with.

I've done exactly that.  Everything I post is original.  You guys are the ones who go out and do biased and refined Google searches to feed your inability to overcome your confirmation bias.  You then post those as if they are original thoughts.  Anyone can do that on any position on any subject you can think of.   How about "if you contract COVID from someone, having sex with the transmitter will nullify the virus".  It's endless what you can find out there if you have a preconceived bias.  Or how about "The heart isn't a pump".

The fact that you can always find at least one other idiot posting similar BS isn't research and it doesn't bolster your position.  I'm very conscious of human tendency towards confirmation bias.  I'm pretty good at overcoming it most of the time.  That's why you wait until the evidence is presented.  As in the Rittenhouse and Smollett cases.
