As a comparison, in normal years approaching 2020, approximately 2.8 million Americans died every year. From all sorts of things. A lot of people die every year in this country. In 2020, the first pandemic year, total deaths were up 17%. Big surprise.

I had to do a quick search (should have the first time you mentioned it but I didn't realize it was a thing).
