So I totally expect Russia to invade Ukraine.

I get it.

You are historically ignorant. The Crimean War, famous for the amazingly stupid "Charge of the Light Brigade" described in the poem of the same name, was fought between the Russian Empire on one side and the Turks French, Sardinians and the British on the other side, over Crimea, The Brits did not want the Russians to control the area around the Black Sea. 650,000 died in this war between 1853 and 1856, The Russians were forced to leave Crimea.
The Donbas region was unimportant until the Stalinist period in which it was turned into an industrial zone because of accessible amounts of coal and iron ore.

I bet you have never even heard of Nestor Makhno, either.

Au contraire. France has pretty much dictated who governs all of its former African colonies, as well as Guinea-Bissau. No one ascends to the presidency in any of these unless the French permit it.

Was it Rudyard Kipling that wrote "Charge of the Light Brigade" ?
I have forgotten now.          Kipling wrote the poem......"IF".
I had a poster of that poem on my wall as a kid.
My father game it me for Christmas when I was about 10-12.
I thought it was stupid at the time.    But the older I got, the wiser the
poem became to me.

A crucial point of the dispute regarding the Russia and the EU is that Germany gets very, very cold every winter, and has abandoned its nuclear power plants. The Russians need money and have far more gas than all the beans in Mexico produce, and if Putin invades Ukraine, the US and others will enable the building of a gas pipeline from the Netherlands into Germany and giant gas tankers from Qatar, that has even more gas than the Russians.
The Germans cannot force Putin to give them gas, and the Russians cannot sell their gas to anyone but the Germans, as there is not an adequate market for it elsewhere.

That is why the Russians cling so fervently to Syria, there are few deepwater ports on the Eastern Mediterranean. A pipeline from Qatar/Bahrain and perhaps Saudia and the UAE through Syria to near Latakia could make providing Middle Eastern gas to Europe even easier. The RussIans want to prevent such a pipeline. The poem was very sad indeed. The actual charge was a stupid and futile action ordered by some stupid British high muckymuck who was not actually part of the charge.
I imagine some old Lord Hawhaw, the seventh Earl of Ramsbottom, looking at the whole mess through a spyglass saying, "By George, her Majesty has no finer or braver cavalry."

The poem was NOT written by Kipling, it was written by Alfred, Lord Tenneson

We CAN'T disband NATO, or who will protect us from the Soviet Union?

Oh, wait...

Putin took the Crimea, and obama did nothing about it.

Under trump, sanctions on russia were tougher than under obama, the equipment given Ukraine was deadlier, and Putin was not threatening Ukraine's border.

All of that changed under Brandon, because Putin has no respect for men in diapers or men in dresses.

Inconvenient facts, you retarded sow.

It is among a dozen or so I have committed to memory. Lewis Carrol's Jabberwocky, Robert Frost's Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening and Edwin Arlington Robinson's Richard Cory are a few of my other favorites - all for very different reasons. Poe's The Bells is another favorite - also for different reasons than the others.

The poem IF sustained me in my youth as no other poem did. It helped me find my way as a fatherless child. I will always see Kipling as a friend when I needed one. I cannot think of a single published work of his that I have not read - and he published a great deal.
