You're nuts if you think they don't want all of Ukraine.

Putin is rebuilding the USSR.  He said as much, today.

not gonna happen. Let me know when you realize you lost the bet.

The Ukrainian people are not governable.

Russia wants the majority Russia population of East Ukraine. That is easily governable. They could in fact take a tad more than they did in 2016. But the primary issue here is Ukraine threatening to join nato and putting missiles in their country.

But if the issue turns into Ukrainian ethnic sovereignty that will open a whole can of worms that not only Russia wants opened. Poland eoukd be dragged into it as eell...because polish birders are fake and they have a large % of ethnic Ukrainians in their own eastern side.

Literally nobody wants this. Not Russia and not nato. There will be plenty of bluffing, no action.

Not what Putin said today.
Putin took Kazakhstan in January, and no one said a word.

Yeah, that kind of stuff !

But that it provided no benefits at all  . . .  is not entirely correct !

The weapons industry benefited a lot !
And so did their employees !

Assembling bombs and stuff like that guarantees you a safe job and a comfortable income plus benefits !

You never  EVER  hear of weapon industry workers going on strike !

There's a reason for that !

Err  . . .  the world can miss a few million Ukrainians !
Like ten or twenty !

That'll definitely subdue them.

They're all criminals anyway !

I even granted that they will want Crimea and probably some anti nato demands. But they don't want to rule over ethnic Ukrainians.

I haven't changed my story on that. You are trying to change it for me

Japanese might wear a pretty mask but the people are never going to forget that nuke. I wouldn't either.

they weren't even militarily useful. They literally were meant to destroy Japanese culture.

Not militarily useful?  Sorry, do you know what Hiroshima and Nagasaki were?
They were the backbone of the Japanese military.

Hiroshima was the Headquaters of the 2nd Army and was the defense of southern Japan.
It was also a communications center, and weapons storage point.

Nagasaki was Japan's largest ship building port and the heart of Japan's Navy.

If they were bombing for affect, they would have bombed Tokyo.

Kyoto you mean. And that is what they initially wanted to do.

But no. In the context none of this was necessary. If you have air power over Japan the war should be over.

The bombing was just a dominance display. It was totally unnecessary
