Thanks for your contributions to the thread Razoo. Yes, as I think I may have mentioned, Republicans have been working to discredit if not undermine and dismantle public education for decades.
Even back when the bipartisan NCLB was signed into law by Bush, (spurred on by a Regan administration generated report titled "A Nation at Risk") vouchers for private schools were already the end game for most Republicans.
Even that law was crafted in a way that tended to lend to discrediting public schools, in that it required public schools to be judged by high stakes, end of year testing (that wasn't required of most private schools), that for each school, continued to raise the stakes, year after year, as to what would be considered satisfactory academic growth. So that no matter how highly a school scored at the end of a year, they had to beat that score the next.
