Exactly. The left says they want an honest discussion on race. Obviously that would include an honest discussion about slavery. An honest discussion on violent crime. An honest discussion on police brutality. Don't think they are ready to have one; too dependent on fantasy.GHETTOBLASTER » 03 Sep 2022, 11:37 am » wrote: ↑ A smart Slave Owner would realize that finding the balance between discipline, productivity and the well being of the Slaves meant the greatest returns.
Of course there would have been some atrocities...but the notion that ALL SLAVE OWNERS WERE EVIL SADISTS is bull ****.
Too many freed slaves chose life as Share Croppers instead of fleeing with just the shirts on their backs from their "Evil Landlords".

What Southerners rarely mention is that a huge amount of the land in the Southern States had already been deforested and cleared for planting by members of the Five Civilized Tribes that Andrew Jackson drove off their farms and off to Oklahoma. The main Southern crops were cotton, tobacco and indigo, a dye used to dye cotton. None of them can be planted in a forest, the trees had to be cut down and the roots and rocks removed. The reason there are still Cherokees in NC is because their ancestors lived in the forests and swamps and their land was not worth the $1.25 an acre that the land in the less mountainous and less swampy areas.
After Jackson forced the 5 tribes off their land, the government sold it for $1.25 an acre. That was the ONLY time the US government has had a surplus in the Treasury.
Point stands. Farmers don't beat the **** out of their chicken coops or hens when egg production drops. They may eat the occasional old maid but cannibalism has never been demonstrated as a thing in the antebellum south. Perhaps in Africa?Pastafarian » 03 Sep 2022, 1:02 pm » wrote: ↑ You are an idiot.
Tractors easily make their quotas more often than not.
Tractors do not tire. At least they don’t break down by keeping them in good condition.
Farms have one, two maybe three tractors while the slave population on plantations were big.
it was easy to abuse your slaves.
You ducking asshole.
So the slaves were just handed over to the Slave Trader Ships for free...?Crazytrain » 13 Apr 2022, 2:04 pm » wrote: ↑ Free labor always makes things more profitable. And anybody that says differently doesn't know ****.

EVERYTHING YOU KNOW ABOUT SLAVERY YOU LEARNED FROM WATCHING ALEX HALEYS "ROOTS" AND FROM READING "JET" magazine ..reading ."THE ATLANTIC" and watching "BET" .. "TMZ" and "WORLD STAR HIP HOP"Xavier_Onassis » 03 Sep 2022, 5:45 pm » wrote: ↑ Point stands.
No, it does not. No one beats up machines when they do not function properly, but human beings do tend to try to avoid being whipped and beaten.
A farmer who beats up a tractor would be insane. Tractors have no opinions about how they feel when beaten.

Explain why most slaves stayed with their former masters if gross mistreatment was rampant? Obviously some got beaten. Chattel slavery is evil, I certainly won't defend it. It was an abomination thankfully ended through the sacrifice of many.Pastafarian » 03 Sep 2022, 5:36 pm » wrote: ↑ Your point does not stand, ypu liar.

cannibalism was not a thing in the antebellum south but sadism was.
**** off, clown.
Tortured people do not stay with their torturers after they are freed. Most former slaves did just that.Xavier_Onassis » 03 Sep 2022, 5:45 pm » wrote: ↑ Point stands.

It wasn't the subject at hand. It was an attempt to point out several factors largely ignored by those who wish to tear down America. Contemporary Amateur propagandists only choose to emphasize and exaggerate the worst aspects of slavery. This gives a slanted view of the real history. It also belays the tremendous pride solely American which should stem from being the first to put an end to the practice of slavery within a fairly short time after our founding. It contradicts the OP that America was built by slaves. Not so.Pastafarian » 03 Sep 2022, 10:13 am » wrote: ↑ ^^^glossing over the atrocious behavior of white slave owners and sympathizers.
How about stories from enslaved kin passed down from generation to generation. Not good enough for you?LibDave » 03 Sep 2022, 10:49 pm » wrote: ↑ It wasn't the subject at hand. The system of slavery gave little to no incentives to slaves and they were much less productive than they would otherwise be like their free contemporaries. Much like people living under the yoke of socialism today, the system lacked any form of incentive for them to work hard for the most part. They lived without hope that their concerted efforts would result in any meaningful improvement in their standard of living. Hence no motivation, little effort. It wasn't until the abolition of the institution of slavery this segment of America began to contribute on an equal basis with White America.

So that completely destroys the entire premise of your OP in one line. Pretty impressive.
