Been wrong before but this IMO is clearly a matter of the hosting fees not being paid. Member donations were not enough and he is not going to subsidize it. It appears that he needs to add some sort of revenue stream to the puzzle or the site will go down like this from time to time and possibly be done for good.

I have inquired about buying .org but $7000 (if I recall correctly) is a bit much for something that has no revenue streams.
