(CNN)  As of Monday it is possible for US citizens to select "X" instead of "F" and "M" when applying for a passport. The US has now joined countries such as Germany, Canada, Nepal and Pakistan in offering a third gender category.

Let's go with your title first.  In order for people to hate you they have to acknowledge you carry some importance around here. Not many do.

As far as the OP I personally don't care one way or the other.  Adults can do as they wish.  Although there are countries don't respect that choice.  Also, a passport is a form of ID, legally speaking.  Kinda good to know for the authorities if they are looking for a man or woman.
