Have you ever been at a social and somebody says something bizarre?  Everybody looks uncomfortable. It's not that they are offended, it's that they are embarrassed for the person who verbally blundered.

You folks are welcome to reinforce one another's opinion at your extremist sites. Just don't expect the rest of us to seek it out. It's embarrassing to watch.

Here is what Elon Musk plans to do. Whether or not, it will not happen.. is anybody's guess. I like the idea of allowing users to edit their tweets once they have created and posted it.

Exactly. Race is a social construct but social constructs exist. It was used to justify the exclusion of blacks from constitutional protections. I'm embarrassed for anybody who claims that race does not exist,

It will be interesting to see how Twitter fares as a relevant social platform if these predicted changes materialize. Elon always swings for the fence.Sometimes he hits. Sometimes he misses.

I can't really say. Am not a twitter fan or user and do not really use social media except facebook. Even then I only use it to get info on my hobbies... craft beer and rock music.

I'm not a Twitter user either but it is quoted a lot. I occasionally enjoy reading collections of funny tweets and my daughter forwards the odd tweet to me. 

FB helps me stay in touch with friends and family around the world. During COVID lockdowns it helped to stay in touch with local friends.

I help moderate a couple of special interest FB groups. The local group is easy to moderate because people behave when they know their real life friends will read what they post. The national group is more difficult because people are less constrained when posting to strangers. 

That brings me back to my original thought. The Internet failed as a platform to promote mutual respect and understanding. I'm unclear how Elon can succeed where everybody else failed.

Stick to subjects that you at least know something about.
