I can read, the US military wanted a weapon with a smaller lighter weight round so soldiers could carry more ammo and go longer without resupply.

The difference between the 5.56x45MM Nato and the 7.62x51MM Nato is approximately 660 rounds of 5.56 vs only 280 rounds of 7.62 on a 22 LB ammo load.

I have never disputed the Armilite Rifle 15, which became the c601, then designated the M 16 was designed to be a battlefield weapon with a fire selection and automatic. 

What is up for dispute is the SP1 which has only a fire selection and was designed to be a civilian hunting rifle, sports weapon, etc.

Too many people with AR 15s?  Oh wait, very few crimes in the grand scheme of gun crimes, are committed with that weapon.

Almost twice the amount homicides are committed with hands and feet than with rifles.

After reading BVs last cringeworthy post about "MIL SPEC" parts found on the Uvalde Shooter's rifle and how the private citizen has no right to have access to MIL SPEC parts....   .....it just amazes me to no end how You and Vegas can choose to  waste so much  time with that ridiculous POS / Serial Liar.
I think it would shock you if you kept a running total of all the time you devote to that Silly POS during a calendar year.
I bet it adds up to DAYS LOST from your life....

I completely understand what you are saying. However, try to look at it from another perspective. Have you ever played hacky sack with friends? It's pretty fun. The game may not provide any benefit to your life, but it is still fun to play. @Blackvegetable  is the hacky sack and @Huey  and I play with him for fun. Does it give us any overall life benefits? No. But it's fun for us to bat him back and forth. The first one to induce a meltdown from him wins.

I have to say, you are currently in the lead in our hacky sack game. The other day I hadn't been on for longer than 30 seconds and he was pissy as hell. He tagged me incessantly. You clearly beat me out on that round. LOL
