Everyone's vote counts equally in their own state. Whoever wins the state, gets the EC votes.
We have the EC to make sure every state in the Union has a say in who is President. Without the EC, the only votes that count are in the extremist Dem enclaves of LA, Seattle, NYC, San Fran, etc. When more people live in one city than live in the entirety of some two or three states combined, the EC forces would-be Presidents to take EVERY state into account when they pursue the Presidency.
This is by design. The EC reins in unfettered democracy and balances political power.
We have the EC to make sure every state in the Union has a say in who is President.
