Yeah, that has always been my argument. I have lived in the most “City of the Cities” in NYC. I have lived in the burbs. I have lived in rural Al. I have lived in Alaska. And now I live in Hampton Roads Va in the burbs where 5 minutes one way is urban and 5 minutes the other is rural. I have also been to 48 of the states. Never got to Maine or Hawaii.impartialobserver » 27 Jun 2022, 3:20 pm » wrote: ↑ A while ago on the .org a poster that I can't recall laid out numerically how much a person's vote counts for. It was a measure of voting population divided by electoral votes. Yes, it did show that WY citizens get proportional more influence that CA and so on. However, the differences were pretty minute. Besides, it helps to have differing perspectives. Life is different in Thermopolis, WY than in NYC..

Different areas have different needs, wants, and problems.
I use Va as an example. Much of this state is rural/suburban and those areas lean conservative. BUT we have 5 or 6 large urban areas that lean democrat and those areas drive elections in majority state elections for governor and senator.impartialobserver » 27 Jun 2022, 3:59 pm » wrote: ↑ I find the whole popular vote schpiel to be little more than someone being a sore loser. HRC lost... it happens. If there was no EC.. presidential candidates would only really care about 16 states. Win most of those 16 most populous and a win is highly probable. Being the afterthought does not exactly stir up a bunch of civic pride.

This is from the previous governors race that Northampton won
there is a physical flaw in your post? Smaller the state more likely most of the state is urban sprawl and way over populated to support itself with the necessities of life for that many people crammed into a small geographical area.NEILCAR » 27 Jun 2022, 11:59 am » wrote: ↑ The small States would never have ratified the Constitution without the Electoral College ... you wouldn't have a vote, or a President to vote for, or a country. Okay let's plan ahead. VOTE VOTE VOTEAnd check often to see if you as as voter have been purged. Voters ORGANIZE A VOTING DAY PACKET which should contain:
--- a birth certificate
--- drivers license or state ID card
--- proof of voter registration etc etc etc.

The Electoral College is going nowhere. The Federal Government does not and will never have control over this. Republicans are gaining rapidly in popularity. It's a bad time to tell people you are a Democrat.razoo » 13 Jun 2022, 9:15 am » wrote: ↑ Abolish the Electoral College…it DOES NOT allow for every vote to count.... The small States should have more Electoral College votes ... but alas they do not .... because they are small states and you do not choose to give a State with a small Electoral College any voice ... such is your democraciesomh » 27 Jun 2022, 5:09 pm » wrote: ↑ there is a physical flaw in your post? Take a large agricultural population with fewer voters than a small urban state that can out vote the rural population every election. Guess why democracies fail as fast as dictatorships do?
