Bullet was invented in 1847. Second Amendment is from 1789. Thus the second amendment only applies to Muskets.

here I thought the first 10 were ratified Jan 1791. 16 months after original was ratified in sept of 1789 after written in 1787.

Correct, we can't legislate our way to safety from crazed or determined criminals. We could make common sense reforms but many such regulations are already in place. There are background checks at gun shows. Straw buyers are illegal. Automatic weapons require a special license from the ATF. We have more laws and regulations in place than ammophobic people realize, I don't believe these restrictions have saved many lives, don't believe additional restrictions will save lives either. Legislation and restriction isn't the answer to this problem.

Hunting, shooting sports, self defense. In Kenosha one was even used for trash removal to pretty good effect.

People use AR 15 style weapons for hunting, competition shooting target shooting and home defense. Not sure how effective thatbis for home defense but they do.
