I agree...I like beavers.  My friend down the street has 40 acres of river bottom with beavers...and everything else.    :)

Or they are freshly fallen from the side of the mountain, erosion does that from time to time.

I know the area well! Liberal Californicationists are ruining Montana in every previously down to earth town or city they inhabit. Some of the smaller more Eastern Montana cities absolutely HATE Californians because of their ideas and how they are making the land and housing skyrocket in value, making places unaffordable for locals.

Since you are a Bitterroot valley man, You must know where my paternal roots began in the USA. One relative grew up on the Burnt Fork, and my great grandfather's tiny log home is now part of the Stevensville Park and museum. I think they may have painted it white, when I saw it about 20 years ago. I lived near Craig, Montana on the river for 12 years. They filmed part of "The Untouchables" on the Hardy bride about 1 1/2 miles from my house, as well as "Thunderbolt and Lightfoot" when Lightfoot was riding in the Cadillac with Clint in the final scene.  My favorite part of Montana! :)

BTW, That cabin was real, and the owner ended up tearing it down completely because idiots constantly trespassed to get to it after the movie, and would go in it, steal items and take parts of it home as movie memorabilia. ASSHOLES! It was a cool part of the area. Probably LIBERAL tourists **** with it.

Interesting.  I did live in the Bitterroot Valley for a year. About 1 mile outside of Stevensville. Actually I lived in an apt in Stevi for a few months then bought a house 1 mile out.

I live 45 minutes north of Stevi now and I'm still within a mile of the Bitterroot River. I'm about 10 miles from the Bitterroot Valley.

I guess the time has come to post pictures of the creek flowing past my home here in the hills back of Ichinotori, Hyogo Pref.

I was hoping some rains would increase its volume  . . .  but with temperatures around  107 °F it doesn't lools like that is gonna happen anytime soon !

Plus the  "rainy season"  was over one month earlier than usual !

Both in the Kanto  (Tokyo)  and Kansai  (Osaka/Hyogo)  regions  !
This creek flows into the Inagawa river that, further downhill, flows into the mighty Yodogawa river !

The Inagawa river is one of the hottest rivers for Ayu fishing !
Only uphill.
The season opened a week ago or so and I'm eating like 3 or 4 everyday !

Tomorrow dinner we'll be having Unagi  . . . a sort of eels !
Roasted on charcoal and marinated with shoyu and stuff !
