And the great thing about a wood stove in winter is that it can be a great place to keep a nice pot of plit plea sloop (as I called it when I was a mere pistol pointer).GHETTOBLASTER » 20 Jun 2022, 4:23 pm » wrote: ↑ Dearest Cyndi..as long as you are able to spend a little time each day to provide for your own warmth with firewood..then everything will be OK.
The time you spend outdoors collecting firewood and kindling is a "closeness" with nature that very few Urban Dwelling Libtards will ever experience for 5 minutes of their very pathetic and totally disconnected from reality lives.....
I am posting mere yards from several years' supply of vittles - if nothing else, a lovely hedge against demflation.GHETTOBLASTER » 20 Jun 2022, 5:08 pm » wrote: ↑ Please enjoy the time you spend in this life able to provide for your own basic survival needs.
Don't be envious of helpless Libtards who will have nothing but old checkbook registers and credit card statements full of proof that they could only pay others to keep themselves alive.
That is double what it was under Trump.Holdor » 20 Jun 2022, 6:24 pm » wrote: ↑ A tank of Home heating oil is like 300 gallons, at $6 a gallon that is $1,800 Pretty simple math
A wood stove and all of the knowledge and access to the natural resources to feed it is a very expensive, time consuming and work related option for young people to contemplate nowadays.Cannonpointer » 20 Jun 2022, 7:02 pm » wrote: ↑ And the great thing bout a wood stove in winter is that it can be a great place to keep a nice pot of plit plea sloop (as I called it when I was a mere pistol pointer).
That is sad. But a decent wood stove and stack can be got and self-installed for a few hundred, and a decent chainsaw can be got for peanuts. I paid more in 80's dollars than chainsaws cost today in 20's dollars - they're ****' GIVIN' 'em away. What else is required? A wedge and a mallet - or maybe just a good ax?GHETTOBLASTER » 20 Jun 2022, 7:19 pm » wrote: ↑ A wood stove and all of the knowledge and access to the natural resources to feed it is a very expensive, time consuming and work related option for young people to contemplate nowadays.
My young neighbors with no back up heat placed a higher priority on owning a pair of new Dodge Monster Deisel Trucks and $10,000 worth of video gaming equipment over owning a wood stove and wood shed on their 5 acre, heavily wooded homestead.
It's the triple walled stainless steel chimney pipe that could cost you $80 per foot that adds up rather quick. This pipe lasts lifetimes..so whatever the price is, you will recover the money spent sooner than later.Cannonpointer » 20 Jun 2022, 8:02 pm » wrote: ↑ That is sad. I agree that wood heat is labor intensive, but it is CASUAL labor - that is, you can do it on your own schedule, when time permits. Burning wood builds character.

It's nice to be able to visit where my triple wall passes through the attic and it is cool enough to touch.Cannonpointer » 20 Jun 2022, 8:09 pm » wrote: ↑ That's why you don't opt for that ****. Google "*** rig."
If you have a chimney fire, you call the chimney fire department.GHETTOBLASTER » 20 Jun 2022, 8:17 pm » wrote: ↑ It's nice to be able to visit where my triple wall passes through the attic and it is cool enough to touch.
What if you DO have a chimney fire inside of it after you go to bed..?
It has been tested to contain a fire if properly installed.

Or you could keep the damper in a resonable position and maybe clean your stack from time to time...
Or just stop burning stolen railroad ties.
