Not DOGEing weather tools.. A meteorolgist in Florida said some of the major tools he has used to predict landfall are gone and warned his viewers for the first time in 34 years his confidence in his forecasts is diminished. This is a pretty important need in Florida and the East Coast. Weather forecasters are a sort of vaccine if you think about it.

I will concede that this does appear to be a unique event that is not related to any degraded forecast due to DOGE Cuts.Buffalo » 26 minutes ago » wrote: ↑ From Red State:
"To be clear, the "cuts" being cited are not only minimal and target bloat, not effective services, but they do not go into effect until October. As for any prior staff cuts (NOAA was in the process of cutting 10 percent of its staff), there is likewise no evidence that those hampered the forecasting of this event. Yet, even a California state senator is repeating the lie because he believes it helps him politically. The NWS could have a trillion-dollar budget, and it would have put out the same forecast
I am an anti-covid vaxxer!!! Didn't and won't take the vax!!! 4 years ago as a 68 yo with COPD I got the **** from a hunting buddy of mine. At my MD doctor brother's advice, I had dosed myself with the "horse paste" Ivermectin twice 4 and 2 days before exposure. 2 days later I woke up and could not smell or taste but felt fine...no fever, aches, etc. Had a regular doctors appointment 2 days later and tested positive for the ****. Could smell and taste a week later. Aside from all the lies and **** about Ivermectin, IT WORKS!!!JohnnyYou » 06 Jul 2025, 7:03 am » wrote: ↑ I will concede that this does appear to be a unique event that is not related to any degraded forecast due to DOGE Cuts.
And it does appear you are correct, NOAA has not been cut... yet. It does not seem prudent to me with climate change occurring.
AI Overview
Yes, the Trump administration, referred to as "DOGE" in the context of your query, has proposed significant budget cuts for NOAA (National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration). These cuts, detailed in the proposed 2026 budget, involve substantial reductions in research, grant programs, and other initiatives. Specifically, there are plans to eliminate funding for climate-dominated research, data, and grant programs.
Here's a more detailed breakdown:
Overall Budget Reduction:
The proposed budget would slash NOAA's annual budget by roughly $1.5 billion, a 30% cut compared to the previous year.
Workforce Reduction:
The administration also plans to eliminate 17% of NOAA's workforce.
Climate Research Elimination:
The proposed budget calls for zero funding for climate research and the elimination of several NOAA climate-related programs, including climate laboratories and regional climate data efforts.
Specific Program Cuts:
The cuts extend to various programs, such as those managed by the Office of Education in Mission Support and multiple programs within the Office of Oceanic and Atmospheric Research (OAR).
Termination of Contracts:
The administration has already terminated a $5.9 million contract for environmental consulting support services.
Impact on the National Weather Service:
The National Weather Service (NWS) has been particularly affected, with staff layoffs, contract cancellations, and restrictions on international exchanges.
Consequences:
These cuts have raised concerns about the potential impact on public safety, especially as hurricane season approaches, and the ability of the NWS to provide timely and accurate weather forecasts.
The proposed cuts are part of a larger trend of budget reductions targeting scientific agencies and research programs under the Trump administration.

Apologies for taking thread vaccine off track. We better quit while we are ahead Buffalo

If you cannot sort out how to avoid pneumonia, and you are at serious risk, a hail mary might be in order.
Stay up on your vitamins, and be sure that they're from good sources. Iron from a mineral source is completely unavailable, for example. You can take fistfuls of such supplements, and you'll still be iron deficient, if you're not getting iron from your diet. Iron from plants that GOT it from minerals is extremely good for you, so long as those palnts are organic.roadkill » 06 Jul 2025, 3:13 pm » wrote: ↑ I don't think I'm at risk at all at this time. You need the full spectrum of vitamins, to empower your best effort from your immune system. This includes Vitamin D, which they lie is really easy to overdose on because it is fat soluble, but which in truth is in a deficient state for 42% of Americans. The RDA is set ridiculously low, so even people taking good multis are often deficient.
The best way to get D is from sun exposure - but they tell you that'll give ya the cyancah. In reality, it's the suntan lotion and the sun block that give ya the cyancah. There are apps that will assist you in getting precisely the D you are looking for from the sun.
They live to lie to you. It's what they do. It's all they do. They're out to get you. Staying a step ahead takes a bit of effort. But seek anbd ye shall find is the byword...
What I do is DON'T think about it. Because the information from either side is sketchy and never ending.roadkill » 06 Jul 2025, 4:05 pm » wrote: ↑ I don't spend much time worrying about XYZ. I get plenty of vitamin D, etc. in my diet.
Don't know if I'll get the P-vaccine. I'll do like I always do...think about it for a while.
That's why I wait and think.Cannonpointer » 06 Jul 2025, 4:23 pm » wrote: ↑ What I do is DON'T think about it. Because the information from either side is sketchy and never ending.
When there is no way to make a rational choice due to unreliable inputs, I just wait a while and my gut knows.
God gave is three centers of intellect - heart, mind, and gut. The trick is knowing which one to consult for which problems.
Yup.

When covid slapped the taste out of my mouth and the smell out of my nose, I just laughed and shook my head -confident that there would be a fix. I sat on my couch for a couple of hours not thinking about it, and then the solution came to me. I got up, walked to the fridge, pulled out a large jalepeno, and started eating it like an apple. About half way through, I got my taste and smell back.
I've been lucky. I pay the price at time of consumption - sweating head and neck. Not from jalepeno, but from stronger stuff. I happen to like indian and thai. They're a whole bunch hotter than jalepenos. And they make me sweat like hell - but for whatever reason, they have no effect on my arse.roadkill » 06 Jul 2025, 7:38 pm » wrote: ↑ I remember the first time I ate jalapeno I had to drink beer to cool my mouth down.
