Oh, ****! It is ever so obvious that Putin has been planning to invade and subjugate Ukraine for several years now, because Ukraine is a serious threat to Putin's dictatorship. NATO stated the obvious: Ukraine, like any sovereign state, has the right to make its own alliances as it sees fit.

There were ALREADY NATO troop's on Russian's borders prior to Putin's attack.
Ukraine is potentially a more prosperous nation than Russia: it has the best farmland in Europe and an educated population that speaks both Russian and Ukrainian. If Ukraine is independent, it will be able to overcome the corruption that has caused it so many problems, because it was abetted by Russia. Ukraine is a less Catholic and more European nation than Russia.
If Ukraine achieves its independence, it will likely surpass Russia in standard of living and will develop industries that can compete with the rest of the world, unlike Russia, that depends on oil, coal, mining and timber. Ukrainian radio and TV stations will become serious competition for Russia's puppet media outlets, and Russians will begin to ask themselves "Why can't we be more like Ukraine?"
You claim that Biden makes less sense than this silly defeatist Congressman. But of course, you do not say WHY. This is because (a) you have no clue what is really going on and why a free Ukraine is important, as (b) you have NO CLUE what Biden's policy really is. Perhaps you prefer to get your information from the Figplucker.
So you seem to agree that his attack was perfectly justified.Xavier_Onassis » 16 Jul 2022, 12:37 pm » wrote: ↑ Ukraine is a serious threat to Putin's dictatorship. NATO stated the obvious: Ukraine, like any sovereign state, has the right to make its own alliances as it sees fit.

No, I regard Putin's attack as IMMORAL, as it is a clear violation of the UN Charter, which opposes wars of conquest. I simply think that Putin is a shameless dictator and wishes to stay in power. He wants to avoid the sort of treatment that Mubarak, or worse, Qadaffi got at the hands of his enemies.FOS » 16 Jul 2022, 12:50 pm » wrote: ↑ So you seem to agree that his attack was perfectly justified.

If Putin were a moral person, which is decidedly is not, he should step down or actually stop silencing his opposition and allow free and fair elections. Putin is a jerk, in the same way that Hitler and Stalin and Ceauceascu were jerks.

I try to put myself in the position of the little people.
Imagine IF I had to leave my home.. And head out on the road! Leave everything behind... my home..8 room house.. my friends..
my Gawd.. Never mind the political aspects of it.. Have you ever thought of that?
It's easy for us to debate the politics of it! because we are so far removed.. it is not funny! it is that simple.

Putin is not defending Russia, Putin is defending Putin.
