I am not convinced that the Republican Party wants to end the American democratic experiment. They merely want to restrict the vote to white male landowners.

Which would result in the government being elected by 35% of current eligible voters.
They will fail in doing this, of course.

Because they refused to follow the safety measures advocated by Biden.  New Zealand had a much lower percentage of deaths because the government took it much more seriously.  Meanwhile, We have anti-vaxxers and anti-maskers who ended up getting sick and spreading it.   The Internet has a running gag called the HermanCainAward for folks who flaunted their immune system over very basic safety measures.

Lockdowns did nothing to curb the spread and unwittingly damaged our youth...

And yet New Zealand put up safeguards that worked.  In the USA, people refused to self isolate.  Even Trump refused and he ended up getting really sick.

Isolation did work.  Italy and Spain had massive body counts long before It was a known presence in the USA.  New Zealand had Aggressive isolation procedures and they cleared it out in months.  We're still struggling with it because people are stupid.
