Not to worry. Contrary to the rules of engagement established at the start of these pg threads, his entire diatribe was nothing more than a personal attack, devoid of any basis in reality except the alternate ones those of his ilk dwell in.

DEMOCRACY ON THE BRINK:

JD Vance a shameless apologist for insurrection in America and war crime assaults on democracy abroad - Raw Story

EXCERPTS:

After being on the wrong political end of the MAGA movement in 2016, likening Donald Trump to “America’s Hitler,” J.D. Vance has become one of the foremost apologists for the would-be dictator attempting to tear down the pillars of American democracy in order to serve his own ego.

Donald Trump is an anti-American traitor, and J.D. Vance carries his water like a pitiful little toady, already announcing his endorsement of Trump for president in 2024.

This should come as no surprise, as Vance has espoused openly authoritarian beliefs, such as that Trump should seize control of all levels of federal bureaucracy and the defense department to install his own sycophants, and if the courts try to stop him, he should ignore the courts, Vanity Fair reported:

“Vance described two possibilities that many on the New Right imagine — that our system will either fall apart naturally, or that a great leader will assume semi-dictatorial powers.”

Vance apparently sees America as in late-stage democracy, and he seems to want to hasten the demise of democracy in America by supporting an openly authoritarian candidate.

REPUBLICAN ENDGAME - THE DISENFRANCISEMENT OF BLACK AMERICA:

Part of the Republican (MAGA) Party endgame in destroying democracy is to attack those who most stand in the way of their achieving those ends, those who don't buy into their hate-based fascist ideologies, Jewish people, the gay community, minorities, etc.

And where Black Americans are concerned, by a coordinated and systematic effort to disempower and disenfranchise Black communities and thereby Black voters, something they've long been undertaking for more than a decade (according to one of the sources cited below).

Jim Crow is alive and living well, in Trump's fascist America.

From back when conservative think tanks and groups like the Heritage Foundation and their affiliates dictated policymaking to Republican politicians like Ronald Reagan. Back when their various right winged PACS and interests like the Kochs and Mercers held little pow-wows and retreats with right winged judges like Scalia and Thomas.

And when their Federalist Society provided Republican presidents and lawmakers with lists of potential judgeships comprised of far right ideologues.

Back when their "war" on drugs wasn't a yet "crisis" (as it is now with opioids) and back when they and their right winged media outlets like Fox, promoted and promulgated thinly veiled, racist, dog-whistle rhetoric and anti-democratic propaganda on a 24/7 basis. Just like they do NOW.

The coming of Trump was only the culmination of that ongoing effort. He was only the full EMBODIMENT of all they were already trafficking in.

So it was NO wonder that his hate based, rabble rousing diatribes were so readily devoured by right winged voters, above ALL other contenders. And why they love him STILL.

And now that they can see their goals on the horizon, they've unembarrassingly pulled out ALL the stops. Today, their sights are set on nothing less than a fascist, authoritarian MINORITY RULE style of government founded upon hate based nationalistic sentiment and they are acting, non stop, towards those ends.

They've set about doing so via They've done so by turning the GOP into A CULT. And THEIR ENDGAME is nothing less than THE DEATH OF DEMOCRACY IN AMERICA.

We are not a democracy, so it can't die.

As a conservative I will let you in on our grand conspiracy for the country.

1. Eliminate as many cabinet positions and departments in the federal government as possible.
2. Eliminate our progressive tax system and replace it with a flat or sales tax.
3. Have a balanced budget amendment.
4. Eliminate federal unions.
5. Eliminate as many useless regulations as possible.
6. Return us to a federalist system where the states get their power back from the federal government.

That is what we want in a nutshell. If we do all of that, the country will not crumble. It will reintroduce liberty back to the republic.

Thanks for your input. But from where I'm sitting, they're also working on raising the retirement age to 70, cutting Social Security and Medicare, rolling back Obamacare protections, culling the electorate via voter suppression efforts and efforts to disenfranchise college age and young people from voting, empowering themselves to remove at will, elected officials, and overturning election results, demonizing gay trans Black and other minority peoples, obliterating Black history and rebranding (or denying) the Holocaust, rewriting the constitution, and installing an authoritarian dictatorship in America...

... among a whole bunch of other evil s***. The only "liberty" MAGAS respect is that OF THEIR OWN.

Republicans have been working to undermine democracy at every turn and for quite some time.

And now, with their increasingly bolder moves to silence opposition, empower themselves to overrule voter outcomes, impeach and disempower elected officials (as they just did in Tennessee),

with their laws passed in a number of red states that enables them to throw out election results they don't like, their imposing of their will upon education, women's rights, the LGBTQ community, and other minorities,

and with their efforts to obstruct justice while defending insurrectionists, the MAGA Party is racing with ever more fervor toward their ENDGAME:

the end of democracy and the permanent installation of their own one party, right wing, authoritarian rule.

Republicans are even NOW, without full control of Congress and the White House, going about establishing the foundations of a fascist STATE.

Working to:

1. control knowledge and truth via the blacklisting and banning of books and literature
2. seize control of the judiciary and use it to undermine established law
3. willfully and knowingly engage in lies, distortions, and propaganda to further their "alternate realities"
4. demonize and scapegoat minorities, gays, and those within the populace they wish to "other"
5. undermine the function of government, federal law enforcement, and the rule of law
6. disenfranchise the electorate, curtail and cull the vote, and strip some of the citizenry of their right to vote
7. create doubt and distrust in our elections
8. put into place the mechanisms to ignore, throw out, and/or overrule voter outcomes
9. disempower and create police states within municipalities to be controlled by them
10 sow hate, division, and discord within the community
11 advance fascism, racism, anti-Semitism, misogyny, and xenophobia
12 establish methods by which those elected by the people can be summarily removed at their discretion
13 rewrite constitutional law to align with their own principles and political goals

WHILE

14 going on record as being not only OPENLY critical of democracy itself, but EVEN of the concept of America AS A COUNTRY

When you have a party doing all the above and more, THEN you have a party HELL BENT on replacing OUR democracy with an authoritarian, one party, KAKISTOCRACY.

And this may very well be OUR LAST CHANCE TO STOP THEM.

FASCISM USA:

The modern Republican party is hurtling towards fascism: OPINION - Robert Reich - The Guardian  (hurtling?? I'd say the **** have fairly well pulled up in the DRIVE)

We are witnessing the logical culmination of win-at-any-cost politics – and Donald Trump has encouraged it

excerpt:

America no longer has two parties devoted to a democratic system of self-government.

We have a Democratic party, which – notwithstanding a few glaring counter-examples, such as what the Democratic National Committee did to Bernie Sanders in 2016 – is still largely committed to democracy.

And we have a Republican party, which is careening at high velocity toward authoritarianism. OK, fascism.

What’s Behind the GOP’s War Against Democracy? - Dailykos

AND:

Popularity is optional as Republicans find ways to impose minority rule - The Guardian

excerpt:

Opinion poll after opinion poll shows that Republicans are increasingly out of touch with mainstream sentiment on hot button issues such as abortion rights and gun safety. Accordingly, the party has suffered disappointment in elections in 2018, 2020 and 2022. Yet instead of rethinking its positions, critics say, it is turning to rightwing judges and state legislators to enforce minority rule.

ENEMIES FOREIGN AND DOMESTIC - ARE WORKING HAND IN HAND IN THE UNDERMINING OF OUR DEMOCRACY

And it isn't just Putin/Russian alliances and collusion with far right entities and hate groups right here in America. Alliances WE'RE not supposed to know anything about.

Victor Orbán is Giving the GOP Lessons on "Soft Fascism" at CPAC and They're Taking Notes - Dailykos

excerpt:

Viktor Orbán’s Hungary is hosting the CPAC Republican fascist-fest this week in Budapest, where the Hungarian “soft fascism” strongman president told the audience, to a standing ovation:

“Hungary is actually an incubator where experiments are done on the future of conservative policies. Hungary is the place where we didn’t just talk about defeating the progressives and liberals and causing a conservative Christian political turn, but we actually did it.”

Orbán’s Fidesz Party and the GOP in most Red States have become virtually indistinguishable, from cronies owning the media, to packing the courts, to rigging elections through purging voters and gerrymanders, to putting polluting businesses in charge of regulatory agencies.

Now both have their sights set on the American federal government. Seriously, both. Orbán is now inserting himself into American Republican politics in a big way: last August he gave a major speech to Republicans in Dallas. Orbán has become a role model for many American politicians, particularly those in the GOP’s Sedition Caucus.

END GAME: FASCISM ON THE RISE - DEMOCRACY ON THE ROPES

There is one (and ONLY ONE) political party fighting for democracy against a terrorist organization headed by Trump - Dailykos (dot com)   excerpt:

"I don't care if people like Biden, Harris, or Democrats. Period. They better damn care about democracy, about the sanctity of their own minds, about their children being able to go to school and live, about their right to vote, about their right to worship or not as they see fit, about their right to enjoy a parade or pick up tonight’s dinner at the supermarket safely, to get the health care they need, to be paid what they are worth, to be free to dream and hope.

The list goes on. This is not about “politics.”

It is about survival. It’s about a far better future for our children’s children — or none at all."

Is This the Most Dangerous Right-Wing Think Tank You’ve Never Heard Of? - The Nation  excerpt:

"Republicans want nothing more than to strip vulnerable Americans of their hard-won rights—but they can’t get that done at the federal level. Instead, they rely on the states to advance their unpopular extremist agenda.

a right-wing think tank called the Foundation for Government Accountability (FGA), and its similarly opaquely named lobbying arm, the Opportunity Solutions Project (OSP).

Most people have never heard of a right-wing think tank called the 'Foundation for Government Accountability'"

(these fkrs sure do have a penchant for giving **** names that belie their TRUE purpose, don't they??)

"and that works to its advantage. As a certified 501(c)(3) organization, it is classified as a charity, or a 'social welfare' group, and thus is tax-exempt. These names and designations may seem innocuous, but the groups’ agenda is anything but.

Founded in 2011, the FGA has spent the last decade influencing Republican state legislatures to gut the social safety net, shrink the voting population, and turn back the clock on fundamental rights that Americans might have assumed they could take for granted."

A call to arms: Defending America’s soul in an age of extremism - The Hill

excerpt:

"In a speech before last fall’s midterm elections, President Biden warned we are engaged in a battle for the nation’s soul. “As I stand here tonight, equality and democracy are under assault,” he said. “We do ourselves no favor to pretend otherwise.”

So, let’s not pretend otherwise. We should start by not calling this a battle. There are white militias that would like nothing better than civil war. They’ve been arming themselves and training for a long time.

Instead, we should defend America’s fundamental principles of freedom, equality, morality, dignity and loyalty to the same Constitution. These are the “soul of the nation.”

The various groups engaged in the assault include white supremacists, white separatists, white nationalists, neo-Nazis, Christian nationalists, the Ku Klux Klan and an assortment of self-identified patriot organizations on the far-right wing of politics. Experts classify them as Islamophobic, anti-Semitic, homophobic, transphobic, misogynistic and xenophobic. For the sake of brevity, we can call them the “phobics.”
