Even going by your premise that the 2A was for militias you can’t have a militia if the citizens can’t afford a rifl

1. For 140 years or so the FED gov put absolutely no restrictions on the type of firearms a civilian could own.  That includes the time of the framers as legislatures and president.

2.  According to the NFA of 1934 a civilian could still own machine guns but had to pay an extra fee.

3.  Madison made it possible for the common man to afford to own the latest in firearms.

4.  The 1986 law does not prohibit the ownership of machine guns as long as it was manufactured before May 86.

As far as firearms are concerned the fed gov has NEVER used your argument.
