I would guess they would have first develop metallurgy. Did anyone ever use (not as a toy) a fully wooden wheeled vehicle? Without any metal parts.GHETTOBLASTER » 01 Aug 2022, 1:34 pm » wrote: ↑ If White Men never evolved / came about...I believe that Sub Saharan ****** would have eventually figured out THE WHEEL for a 3 mile per hour / 30 rpm max rotational speed cart on their own.
I suppose so.dickens » 03 Aug 2022, 6:11 pm » wrote: ↑ I would guess they would have first develop metallurgy. Did anyone ever use (not as a toy) a fully wooden wheeled vehicle? Without any metal parts.
Sure you can use metal axis with wooden bushings. But wooden axis with wooden bushings? Any example?GHETTOBLASTER » 03 Aug 2022, 7:17 pm » wrote: ↑ I suppose so.
The earliest carts didn't need to be very well engineered to last long enough to be worth the effort to built.
The very first use of "the wheel" would have been rolling logs placed under heavy loads like those Eqytian Pyramid blocks .
Did you know that very hard wood was used as propellor shaft bushings [pillar blocks] on the first prop driven ocean going ships...?
There is an African hard wood [memory fails now] that is probably the hardest in the world...probably close to soft aluminum...?

The part of the axis in bushing covered with metal cylinder, I think. And it clearly has metal screws and a metal rod to hold it together.
