Another very important aspect of blackrock is that...unlike 'normal' banks such as nations bank or suntrust or whatever...blackrock is basically totally unregulated. THere is almost no government oversight over what they do. The term for this is a 'shadow bank'. So while they control more money than any other bank...they can also do whatever they want with it
