I have found that here in Miami, to live economically, you have to keep a record of the prices charged by each supermarket. Aldi's has the lowest prices on everything they sell that I buy. They are slightly higher on a few things that I don't buy, but they have the Dollar Tree beat. The Latino stores are competitive on produce, but the Opa Locka Flea Market (still selling veggies) is cheaper than everyone. Walmart was the last to succumb to market pressures and manufacture in Chyna. Great Value brands never appear on the various apps my family uses to screen foods for fetal parts and neurological toxins. And Wally's brick and mortars are no less under siege than your local mom and pop.

Wal Mart is not always cheapest. They are usually more expensive than Publix when Publix has specials. And guaranteed, it will take you AT LEAST 20 minutes to check out of any WalMart in Miami. Anything that WalMart and Home Depot both sell will be a lot cheaper at WalMart.

The problem with the mexican grocers is no organics. But the stuff one DOESN'T mind buying "conventional" is absolutely cheaper and the quality is often the same.

I have often found organic veggies in the Opa Locka Flea Market. Almost everything appears there once or twice a year.
