Capitalism is, or at least was based on a free market system. That doesn't seem to be the case these days for the oligarchs.Cannonpointer » 27 Aug 2022, 9:31 pm » wrote: ↑ Everything I said remains unaddressed and merely relabeled as "corruption," instead of my more accurate terminology: "end-stage capitalism." You deny not a word of what I pointed out - and relabeling it is not even a response, much less a rebuttal.
If "corruption" excuses capitalism, then it excuses socialism - whatever that means. Socialism didn't put the vax in or children's arms. Wall Street did that. If Wall Street is socialism, WHAT THEN IS CAPITALISM?
That’s bcuz most everyday citizens are not really capitalists, we just fatten a capitalists pockets.roadkill » 28 Aug 2022, 6:03 am » wrote: ↑ Capitalism is, or at least was based on a free market system. That doesn't seem to be the case these days for the oligarchs.
Every day citizens who engage in capitalism are not engaged in the items on yer list. At least the ones I know aren't.

From slaver masters to robber barons to the oligarchs you cited, they are all the same people and they never went away.
The only time America’s had a prosperous middle class is when socialism seeped in.
So, they need each other for the best outcomes.roadkill » 28 Aug 2022, 6:36 am » wrote: ↑ The black community was doing much better before socialism seeped in.
Years ago socialism and communism let capitalism seep in and their countries improved...now capitalism has been corrupted by the power elites...so it's no longer traditional capitalism.
Lower case socialism needs Capitalism a lot more than the reverse. Upper case Socialism has corrupted both capitalism and lower case socialism.Pastafarian » 28 Aug 2022, 6:38 am » wrote: ↑ So, they need each other for the best outcomes.
Thanks for proving my point.
The black community also did better before the war on drugs was concocted.

Needs it more? How did you arrive at this conclusion? When history has shown Americans were never more prosperous than when socialism came to America.
Before that, there was no middle class and most Americans lived in poverty.

They don't.

I know that adam smith had not yet named the economic system, but it WAS BEING PRACTICED by the british. People WERE buying shares, limiting liability, trading on a market.
And there wasn't **** thing "free market" about it - then or now. The colonists were monopolized by the british - not allowed to trade with anyone but them. The king's guns set prices - not willing participation.
Never was. Not ever.
They don't.
They engage in free enterprise.
Capitalism happens on wall street. Free enterprise happens on main street - and it is under attack by wall street's goons in government.
Corruption happens EVERYWHERE. It is happening in your refrigerator and your butt crack as I type.roadkill » 28 Aug 2022, 9:01 am » wrote: ↑ "Capitalism happens on wall street. Free enterprise happens on main street - and it is under attack by wall street's goons in government."
I would change one thing...
Corruption happens on wall street. Free enterprise happens on main street - and it is under attack by wall street's goons in government.

No ****, no corn - no corn, no life.
Everything that sustains us relies on corruption. You want grape juice, or ****' wine? Wine requires corruption. So does cheese. The more corrupt the cheese, the more expensive. The least corrupt is American cheese - it's also the cheapest.
This world is a big old hopper that is recycling EVERYTHING as we speak - turning it all to **** in order to make of it good clay.
Corruption is not the problem. We cannot "fix" the corruption and restore capitalism to a former pristine state, because no such state ever existed.
There is capitlism, which requires government created, government regulated, government enforced trading boards: I.E., GOVERNMENT RUN MARKETS; and there is free enterprise, which requires none of that: I.E. FREE **** ENTERPRISE.
We need to outlaw capitalism and restore free enterprise.
I also believe in a "better way": the way that God intended.roadkill » 28 Aug 2022, 9:25 am » wrote: ↑ I see a difference...and I don't think I'm being unreasonable.
And yer right, there's corruption all around us...but some believe in a better way, and some are deliberately corrupt and don't give a damn.
None of us are perfect...and yet some of us believe in a better way even if we don't always achieve it.
Give me a break on this one...or I'll have you outlawed.

That is free enterprise.
It does not require assistance from the state. It flourishes, even when the state outlaws it. There WAS no capitalism in soviet russia, because capitalism requires government assistance at EVERY level of prosecution. But there was free enterprise: the "black market."
Free enterprise can be driven underground - IS BEING DRIVEN UNDERGROUND IN AMERICA, as it was in Russia. But it cannot be eliminated. Capitalism CAN be eliminated, because it requires state assistance. Withhold that, it does not exist.
It is impossible for a small farmer to sell his good to consumers, legally. I have bought more illegal butter, milk, cream, eggs, beef and goat than I can shake a stick at. The farmers I buy from have to break the law to sell to me, because just as communism before it, capitalism is outlawing free enterprise, using the government gun.
