Not taxpayers.

Schools should also be paying the bill for the cancelation imo. 

if they failed their customers in their alleged purpose (financial independence) then are they not simply a scam anyway?

Most people wind up being more stupid when they graduate than before they went.

It's a combination of the schools and the government. This started with Billy "the rapist" Clinton, Bush Jr signed off on it, and then really got steam during the Ovomit era. They increased the borrowing amount allowed to the point that there was no cap on how much the government was willing to loan per student. The universities/colleges took advantage of this and started overcharging students because they knew the government would pay it. Of course, at the end of the day, it lies on the student's shoulders.

Your last sentence. Perfect. Knowledge doesn't equate to "smart." IQ does and is innate.

I went one year. All we did was party!
It didnt take me long to figure out what a scam it was!
But hey..  maybe if a person has a goal? like a doctor or a nurse?maybe?
but imagine the cost? I got lost in  -Al gee-bra.    I'm older now- never used it yet.

The debt isn’t being canceled, it’s simply being transferred to someone who didn’t agree to  the terms.

Not fine with this. It’s a slap in the face of everyone, whether student or parents, that have worked their ***’s off for their, or their childrens graduating piece of paper.

What makes it significantly worse, is that it does NOT address the root problem. I AM for the interest being waived, and I feel that’s a core problem that should be addressed to make these loans viable going forward. Charge 1 - 1.5% interest, that’s reasonable for all parties, and provides the opportunity for all. Those that welch on the principle under that scenario, **** em’.

What the **** did was not only **** on those that have busted their ***’s doing things the right way, but rewarded those that have not - and most importantly…..not addressed the systemic flaw in the “system”. Leave it to the left to **** those that have done things properly, only to reward those that have not.

That was me all through high school. Algebra did not compute. Hated it! It was an abstract thingy for me, and I needed to know how and why it worked. The light never came on. 
What is more important, curiosity or wisdom? I say curiosity. A steppingstone to achieve wisdom. What say you?

About that student debt cancelation... it seems the Ho was behind it.. I guess that makes sense, she specializes in screwups..
